Our mission is to drive social advancement and economic self-sufficiency for the Winnebago people. More than 1,700 individuals work across our diversified portfolio of companies doing business locally, nationally and around the world. In less than a generation, our approach has helped develop an economy and middle class on the rural Nebraska reservation.     🌟 Intern Alumni Spotlight: Anna Berridge! 🌟 Anna Berridge, an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, is the manager of the Winnebago Tribe’s Environmental Protection Department (EPD). She manages five EPA-funded programs, oversees 11 grants, and ensures compliance with both Tribal and EPA regulations. Anna also leads the development of a Quality Assurance and Quality Control system, collaborating with tribal, state, and federal agencies to implement sustainable environmental solutions aligned with the Tribe’s goals. 👩🔬 Anna earned her bachelor’s in health administration & policy with minors in business administration and public health from Creighton University in May 2024. Her internship with Ho-Chunk, Inc. helped her develop critical skills in communication, project management, and collaboration, all of which are essential to her current management role. Anna encourages those considering the internship to, “Network extensively and take full advantage of the wealth of resources available. Immerse yourself in learning about the ways this tribally owned corporation has positively impacted the Winnebago community and use this opportunity to build both your skills and connections.” 🧪Anna’s path highlights how Ho-Chunk, Inc.’s internship program not only fosters professional growth but can also open doors to success beyond the company. Our Accounting department at Ho-Chunk, Inc. offers interns the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop valuable skills for the future. 💡 Work on key projects such as invoicing, payroll, and financial reporting 💡 Assist with system upgrades and transitions to improve accounting processes 💡 Gain exposure to strategic projects like business plans and nonprofit fundraising Advice from Troy Twillman, our Senior Controller in Accounting: “Ask questions to clarify what you don’t understand and to learn why we do the things we do. Also don’t be afraid to be part of a task or process that interests you.” George Masquat, a Winnebago Tribal member and our Accounting Assistant, shares: “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and never stop learning. The internship prepared me by providing the chance to experience different departments and work on impactful projects like creating a business plan and raising money for a nonprofit. One of the most valuable lessons I learned was that every role in the company contributes to reaching the bigger goal. The mentorship I received during my internship helped me build confidence to transition into my full-time position, and I’m now able to apply that same knowledge in my current role.” 🟢 Interns who join our Accounting department can expect to contribute to the company’s mission all while learning how a dynamic company operates. The program supports the Winnebago Tribe’s priorities: youth, education, jobs, housing, and elders.     🌟 Intern Alumni Spotlight: Caden Cleveland! 🌟 Caden Cleveland, an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, is the Community Programs Coordinator at Ho-Chunk, Inc., he leads the Apprenticeship Program, a collaboration with the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska’s Education Department and Winnebago Public School. He also assists with other development programs that align with both business and community needs, provides educational support to students and builds key relationships with academic and community partners. 🎓 Caden has always placed a strong emphasis on education. After graduating as Valedictorian from Winnebago Public School in 2018, he earned his AA in Liberal Arts from Little Priest Tribal College in 2021 and completed his Bachelor’s in Sports Management with honors from Wayne State College in 2023. Reflecting on his internship at Ho-Chunk, Inc., Caden believes it was essential in helping him build important connections. “It gave me the opportunity to meet people, network, and lay the groundwork for my current role,” he says. 🚀 For anyone considering the internship, Caden offers this advice: “It’s one of the best internships in Nebraska.
