Hyundai had a tremendous day opening Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) today part of our commitment and investment in the U.S. It was a pleasure to speak to Fox News TV and Liz Clayman about the news and investment. Today’s event marks the completion of the largest economic development project in Georgia’s history, just two and a half years after breaking ground. This $12.6 billion investment will create 12,000 direct jobs and 40,000 indirect jobs in Georgia. This facility not only represents Hyundai Motor Group's advanced manufacturing capabilities and commitment to innovation, but also our investment in relationships with our partners and communities here in Georgia. Hyundai Motor Group continues to invest billions of dollars in the U.S. creating tens of thousands of jobs. Today our Executive Chair met with President Trump at The White House and announced new U.S. investments of $21 billion over the next four years! This includes a new Hyundai Steel plant in Louisiana and $9 billion in automotive investments. HMG will increase its U.S. production capacity to 1.2 million units annually. This is tremendous news as we prepare to open Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) this week. We are looking forward to officially opening Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia next week. It is ramping up production of the 2025 IONIQ 5 EV which is already on sale and preparing to launch the IONIQ 9 EV at the end of Q1. Preparation to add hybrid production is already underway. We are less than an hour away from the start of the 201st Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade and we couldn't be more excited!
On Monday, the entire region celebrates St. Patrick's Day. Between 1800-1861, many people from Ireland made this place home due to the potatoes famine. The day starts with Mass in the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, a beautiful Europeanesque church inspired by the faith of the Irish immigrants and made with French craftsmanship. On Monday, as they say, everyone is Irish! I am happy to be joining over 40 of my fellow Meta Pros as Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) proudly joins our community in this festive occasion.
