It’s always great to visit our American manufacturing facilities: Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC which has been operating in Alabama for almost 20 years, and our newest facility, Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Savannah, which is ramping up production. Thanks to our Executive Chair and Hyundai Motor Company (?????) President and CEO Jay Chang for their visit and continued support of the American market. HMMA employs 4,200 team members, has an annual payroll of $260 million, supports 38,000 direct and indirect jobs, spends $6.3 billion per year to support its manufacturing operation and maintain its facility and investment, and generates almost $5 billion in economic impact every year. HMGMA and its on-site affiliates will employ 8,500 team members and will create more than 37,900 direct and indirect jobs in the state of Georgia. We’re investing $12.6 billion in this new facility and two battery joint ventures. According to the Center for Automotive Research, Hyundai is responsible for creating 190,000 jobs and creating more than $20 billion in economic impact every year. With our success in this great country, Hyundai is not only realizing its own American Dream, but we’re also helping tens of thousands of Americans achieve theirs as well. I often get asked about how big the Metaplant is. To put the photo below into perspective, allow me to share some facts: - We are a part of the megasite which includes all the Hyundai affiliates and HMGMA - The megasite is 2,906 acres and is larger than Tybee Island, GA - Including HMGMA and all affiliates, there are 7.6 million square feet under roof. - HMGMA's general assembly shop alone is 1 million square feet - Once up to full production, we will employ 8,500 people on site (that includes all the affiliates and all shifts) - There will be 1,878 parking spots under solar panels that will produce up to 5% of the energy used on any given day. - And the most important statistic: we are hiring! Congratulations to the team at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) for starting initial vehicle production of our first customer vehicles! After validating all our production processes, supplier readiness and ensuring that vehicle quality meets the high standards of Hyundai Motor Company (?????), HMGMA produced its first IONIQ 5 EV last week. To mark the occasion, we held a small ceremony for our employees to celebrate all their hard work in preparing for our production launch. We are very much looking forward to the official grand opening in the first quarter of next year. I know our dealer partners are looking forward to having the first locally produced IONIQ 5 vehicles in their showrooms soon. All of us at Hyundai are so appreciative of the partnership with the State of Georgia. The fact that we are ahead of schedule is a testament to Georgia being great place to do business and as a leader in high-tech automotive manufacturing. The support from Georgia including infrastructure, exceptional workforce, supplier ecosystem and pro-business environment (among a host of other positive contributors) has been key to our success thus far and remains an essential part of the story of HMGMA which is only beginning to be written. We look forward to decades of fruitful partnership and the vast economic impact that comes with tens of thousands of new, high paying jobs in the region. Thank you to Office of Governor Brian P.
