We are innovative grant-makers who use our experience and community networks to enable our partners – who include corporates, foundations and individuals – to grow organisations that are making a difference. Working through us, our funders achieve significant and lasting impact. Grassroot organisations understand what help is most needed in a community. We and our partners get results, improving lives in far-flung areas of our region. All funding is accompanied by mentorship and monitoring to achieve sustainable results. #SEF Spotlight: In the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Hlanganisa Community Fund for Social & Gender Justice is leading the charge. Through the Sisterhood Advocates programme, nearly 1900 women have been trained as paralegals and psychosocial support providers, helping survivors of GBV navigate legal and support systems. Between July - October 2024, they reached: ? 126 000 households ? 1 100 women supported with legal aid ? 239 women safely accompanied to police stations This is the value of investing in community-driven employment—it strengthens society, saves lives, and creates opportunities. #SocialEmploymentFund #SEF #WorkForCommonGood

The launch of the South African Philanthropy Climate Commitment is now announced, representing the first African funders’ climate pledge and the 10th global funders’ climate pledge. This initiative marks a significant milestone in positioning African philanthropy at the forefront of climate action ?? ? The commitment urges funders to integrate climate considerations into their strategies, ensuring that philanthropy remains sustainable, relevant, and impactful in a rapidly changing world. By signing, funders join a growing network of peers dedicated to driving meaningful change. ? In conjunction with the launch, Independent Philanthropy Association of South Africa has published two key resources to assist funders in incorporating climate considerations into their work: ? 1)???????????????? ?????????????? ???????????????????????? ?????????????? ???????????????????? – A comprehensive overview of the current climate funding landscape in South Africa, highlighting key trends and opportunities for funders. 2)???????????????????? ???????????? ?????????? ???????????? ?????? ?????? ?????????????? – Practical guidance for early childhood development (ECD) funders on integrating climate considerations into their efforts. ?
