Located in the Diriyah neighborhood of Riyadh, the Arena in Diriyah was designed for residents of the Kingdom and visitors who wanted to connect with the Nadji culture and its architectural heritage. Our team at HKS embedded international best practices, innovative technologies and high-performance energy targets in the project. Alex Thomas, a leader from HKS London, serves as a senior designer of the project and shares the inspiration behind the design. "The arena is fully integrated into the urban environment, surrounded by public plazas, walkable streets, and inviting spaces that foster public life, pop-up activations, and outdoor events, including a Wadi-parkland," says Alex. "The design process involved in-depth research into both current and future users. Our team studied trends and developed persona profiles tailored to this location. The arena’s design, functionality, amenities, and atmosphere have all been shaped by this understanding of its users." ? Nurse burnout is a huge problem throughout our global healthcare systems. To understand the causes of this crisis, HKS, CADRE and MillerKnoll created a research coalition to get a better look at what nurses are dealing with — the good, the bad, and the complicated. ? Our teams analyzed over 15,000 Reddit comments from the nursing community to uncover real-time insights into the burnout crisis. This authentic view of nurses' daily struggles revealed how the design of healthcare spaces can better support them. Members of the coalition asked themselves: ?? What components of the physical environment contribute to nurse burnout? ?? How can the design of the physical environment help mitigate nurse burnout? ? Look at what was discovered and learn how we intend to alleviate this global challenge through design. ? https://lnkd.in/gb-EDQQt ? The 2024 Healthcare Design Conference + Expo kicks off next week. Leaders from the Nurse Burnout Coalition will present on Sunday, October 6 to discuss the research — "Blueprint for Mitigating Nurse Burnout: A Social Listening Perspective."
