One of our favorite stories of Honolulu Tech Week was the launch of the Holoholo App, the easiest way to save daily memories, founded by Christopher, Robbie, and Eric. The team launched their LIVE version of the product during Honolulu Tech Week at Beta Brews hosted by Nam Vu. We ?? to see companies do their official product launches during HTW. Here's a quick demo of the Holoholo app experience during HTW. Download the app: https://lnkd.in/gRXN7kPi

Hawai’i Women in Tech had a big year. There are several key highlights in 2024 and this is one of them. As luck would have it, a few months ago I stumbled upon Nomiki Petrolla and her tech accelerator for women PDS Lab and I just had to reach out to her. The first call I had with her convinced me that she would be an excellent speaker for Hawai’i Women in Tech. She hosted our October event and agreed to creating a scholarship for her program to elevate a female tech founder in Hawai’i. I was so thrilled that when I put the call out for a matching sponsor Kelsey M. T. Amos at Purple Mai?a Foundation got behind the scholarship. Here’s to women coming together to empower other women. More big news to share soon. Q4 has been an epic one!!!!
?? Scholarship Partnership Announcement! In a powerful collaboration to ignite the potential of women in technology, Hawai’i Women in Tech (HWIT), PDS Lab, and Purple Mai?a Foundation are thrilled to offer a full scholarship to a local female tech founder, empowering her to transform her vision into a reality. This unique partnership is committed to uplifting the next generation of female entrepreneurs in Hawai’i by providing them with the tools, mentorship, and resources they need to succeed. Through this opportunity, women will gain the support necessary to take their ideas to the next level and make a lasting impact on the local tech ecosystem. By fostering innovation and championing women in tech, this initiative is not only shaping a brighter, more inclusive future for Hawai’i’s startup community but also inspiring a new wave of female leaders in the tech industry. The scholarship offers a chance for an aspiring tech founder to actively drive technology development in Hawai'i’s tech sector, ensuring women’s voices and perspectives are at the forefront of innovation. We will be sharing the scholarship application details early in the new year so stay tuned! ?? Check out the PDS Lab Product Accelerator Program for women here: https://www.pds-lab.com/ Massive Mahalo to Nomiki Petrolla from PDS Lab and Kelsey M. T. Amos from Purple Mai?a Foundation for your amazing support to make this scholarship possible. We look forward to launching this collaboration in 2025!!

"How the hell is this possible?" Aaron Holm, Founder of PatientCircle Research Institute, shared with Joey Aquino and our attendees how his story of going through heart surgery lead to the realization that the lack of peer coaching was a critical issue affecting patient outcomes in the health system. "There's 50 million major surgeries in the US every year, and every one of them is a scheduled trauma. And we do not treat it like that. And how is it that every surgery patient goes into surgery and doesn't talk to anybody who's been through it? The only people who they can relate with...Nobody talks to anybody who's been through them. And I'm just like, how the hell is this possible? So then I started just going down the path, and I started doing a research project with my hospital, and I said, let me coach some patients before they go into surgery, and I guarantee you it'll change their rates of anxiety and depression. And I guarantee you they'll go to rehab. And if you do those things, then you change all the cost metrics and all the depression metrics. And I said, I know it'll work. And somehow they listened."
