History San José is one of the largest regional history museums in Northern California with three locations in San José.
关于我们
History San José collects, preserves and celebrates the stories of diversity and innovation in San José and the Santa Clara Valley. History San José operates three locations: History Park — a historical and cultural campus featuring 19 partner organizations who each tell their own history in their own words; the Peralta Adobe-Fallon House Historic Site — one of the oldest and most significant locales in San José; and the Collection Center — the Valley’s collective memory. Every day we continue to collect contemporary history documenting the social and political happenings in the Valley. We preserve a collection of more than 500,000 artifacts, including a Research Library and Archives used by locals as well as a world-wide audience. We celebrate the Valley’s history by creating exhibitions featuring the collections; by engaging the community in fun hands-on family programs and events; and by offering award-winning standards-based school programs for over 20,000 students and their teachers each year. The organization is supported by more than 270 volunteers and interns, and by a membership who values history and believes that by celebrating it we can create a community with a strong sense of place that respects cultural diversity and innovation. I invite you to explore the website and to re-discover Silicon Valley, and rediscover History San José by joining us.

From the garage that started it all! Some of our History San José staff had the incredible opportunity to visit the historic HP Garage, where Hewlett-Packard was born, and see our Model 200A audio-oscillator proudly on display, loaned from HSJ's Perham Collection of Early Electronics. Assembled in the famous Addison Avenue garage, the Model 200A was HP's first marketable product—a practical, low-cost way to generate high-quality audio frequencies for communications, geophysics, medicine, and defense. At the end of 1938, the founders placed their first production model on a mantel, snapped a photo for a mailing, and soon after, orders (and checks!) started arriving. It all started with this oscillator—one of the sparks of Silicon Valley innovation!

History San José is pleased to present “?MONSTRAS! Female Legends of Latin America,” a spine-tingling exhibition exploring the enduring myths surrounding 10 female Latin American monsters. Based on the podcast of the same name created by Dr. Orquidea Morales and Brenda Salguero (M.M.St & MBA), the exhibition introduces dark and foreboding tales of Latin America which they first encountered in their youth, filtered through a distinctly feminist perspective. “?MONSTRAS!” opens February 15th and will be on view through April 12th in the Pasetta House at History Park on Saturday and Sundays from 12pm - 3:45pm (*subject to change).
