关于我们
Established in 1973 in the aftermath of two events, the devastating effects of the flood caused by Hurricane Agnes and the demolition of Harrisburg’s spectacular State Theatre. Historic Harrisburg Association serves as the Capital Region’s advocacy organization for historic preservation and urban revitalization. As a non-profit charitable and educational organization, Historic Harrisburg’s primary focus is to promote the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of historic neighborhoods and landmarks, whose stewardship is vital to the Capital Region’s residential, commercial, economic, and cultural life.

Historic Harrisburg Association has received confirmation for two additional tours days on 11/9 and 11/16. Each has two tours per day for the Harrisburg State Hospital. However, these will be the last four public tours available. Tickets will go on sale next Thursday, September 19 at noon. We understand HSH's importance in Harrisburg’s history and the community. We are working on additional ways to memorialize that history outside of walking tours. We understand your frustration and will continue to try to accommodate as many of you as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding. https://lnkd.in/eWuD4xve

HHA is thrilled to announce that it has secured a new tour of the Harrisburg State Hospital campus. This will be the FINAL public tour of the campus before its closure for redevelopment next year for the new Pennsylvania Joint Laboratory. The tour will take place on Saturday, October 26th with 2 tours the 1st starting at 10am and the 2nd at 12pm. There are a limited number of tickets available, so we have limited ticket sales to 4 per order. This decision was made to accommodate as many history and tour enthusiasts as possible. Tickets will go on sale next Thursday, September 12 at noon. No tickets have been presold to individuals, groups, or members. We thank you for your patience and understanding. We want to thank the Pennsylvania Department of General Services for their support and commitment to HSH's history.” For more information visit https://lnkd.in/eUPsw9sW

??Intern Spotlight?? Meet Ericka Kauffman, an Archives Intern at our association. She is entering her final year of graduate school at the University of Maryland, pursuing a Master's of Historic Preservation. This summer, she has been finding corresponding addresses for photos in our photo collection. Her interest area in Harrisburg is the inclusion of underrepresented histories existing narratives. In her free time, Ericka enjoys transcribing letters for NYCHAPs, reading, and hiking. Thank you, Ericka!??
