???????????! ????-?????????? ???????? ?????????? ?????????????????? ???? ???????? ???????? ???????????????? ?????????????? ?????? ??????????????; ???????? ???????????? ???? ?????? ?????????? ???? ??????????????????.? Established in 2014 under the visionary leadership of Andy Checo and former president David Henry, the ?BRAVO! Awards program has become a trailblazer in the industry, uniquely celebrating exceptional multicultural communications campaigns from agencies and brands nationwide. For the past decade, Checo has been the unwavering force propelling the program's growth and prominence. At the 2024 ?BRAVO! Awards ceremony on November 21, Checo announced his decision to step down from his role as co-chair. In recognition of his unparalleled dedication and over ten years of service in shaping and elevating the ?BRAVO! Awards, the HPRA Board of Directors honored him during the event, paying tribute to his lasting impact on the program and the industry at large. “Andy has poured his heart into the ?BRAVO! Awards program, often carrying the weight of it on his shoulders with the help of only a few dedicated individuals. His commitment to celebrating excellence in multicultural communications, even in the face of fundraising hurdles, is something I deeply admire. It also serves as a reminder that consistency and commitment are key to the success of any work we do. Over the past decade, Andy hasn’t just led BRAVO—he’s built it into something extraordinary. While I’ll miss seeing him in the co-chair role, I’m grateful he’ll remain on the board and, more importantly, that he will remain my ride-or-die and partner in this mission.” - HPRA President Sonia V. Diaz.
Last week, the Hispanic PR Association (HPRA) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the ?BRAVO! Awards, marking a decade of celebrating excellence in multicultural communications. I was both surprised and deeply honored to receive the first-ever HPRA ?BRAVO! Award for Service, recognizing my contribution to this remarkable program over the past ten years. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the passion and commitment of countless individuals, partners, and supporters who have helped make the ?BRAVO! Awards the gold standard in our industry. To the entire HPRA family, and especially to our incredible president and my partner in crime, Sonia V. Diaz —thank you for your trust and for creating a platform that uplifts and empowers our profession. As I bring my tenure as the event’s co-chair to an end and pass the torch on to the next generation of program chairs, who I know will take the ?BRAVO! Awards to even greater heights, I want to acknowledge some of the individuals who have played pivotal roles in the program’s growth: Veronica Salcedo Patrick Ford Carmella Glover Mike Valdes-Fauli Stephen Chavez Manny Gonzalez Rosemary Mercedes Bryan Llenas Gaby Natale Yvonne Lorie Etienne Hernandez Medina Oscar Suris Nicholas Calhoun Melissa Smith Michael A. Olguin Richard Edelman astrid rivera Brenda Mendoza Messinger (she/her/ella), Lourdes Rodriguez Rosanna Fiske Jennyfer Grundler Vanessa Gonzales Antonio Tijerino Shelley Spector Steve Barrett Natalie Asorey Darcy Brito Carla Michelle Santiago Audrey Ponzio Rodriguez Erika Sanchez Yunice Emir Christina Kolbjornsen and to the countless honorees, sponsors, emcees, judges and board members over the past 10 years. Here’s to the next decade of celebrating excellence, representation, and the power of our stories. (Pics over the years) #HPRABravoAwards #Celebrating10Years #ThankYou ??.

Last week marked the conclusion of my second term and fourth year as President of the Hispanic PR Association (HPRA), and I can confidently say that this chapter of my career has been among one of the most enriching and rewarding. Collaborating alongside my "industry husband," Andy Checo, and the remarkable HPRA board has been a true privilege. Reflecting on my whole professional journey to date, I am filled with gratitude for the countless individuals who have shaped my path and contributed to my growth. Yet, amid all the milestones and lessons, two extraordinary people stand out as the foundation of my professional story. From offering me my first opportunity as an intern at Edelman to guiding me through pivotal career decisions, Angela Sustaita-Ruiz and Manny Ruiz have been the architects of my success. They provided a place to stay when I first moved to Miami, spoke my name in influential spaces where I was absent, and believed in my potential long before I recognized it in myself. Their unwavering support has been a constant source of encouragement, always affirming my authenticity and never asking me to change who I am. As I embark on my third term as president of HPRA, my vision for the organization and our students is clear: to nurture an environment where others can experience the same profound encouragement and belief that Angela and Manny have generously extended to me for nearly 20 years. Together, we can cultivate and build a legacy of empowerment, diversity, and boundless opportunity.

Congratulations to Leon Krauze who received “Journalist of the Year” award at last night’s Hispanic PR Association (HPRA) ?BRAVO! Awards?????? A true journalist has integrity and prioritizes keeping people informed with helpful facts, rather than trying to influence them with fiction, rumors, or marketing fluff for self-serving purposes. Celebrating ethical, courageous people like León makes me proud to be part of HPRA! #publicrelations #communications #latinoleadership #journalism

We celebrated the Hispanic PR Association (HPRA) BRAVO Awards and it was indeed a night to remember! I want to thank our fearless leader, president Sonia V. Diaz, my Co-Chair Andy Checo, our BRAVO Committee and amazing volunteers. We did it mi gente! The BRAVO Awards recognizes outstanding Hispanic and multicultural PR campaigns and honors trailblazers for their work in elevating Latinos in their respective fields. To help create a pipeline for future talent, we also award scholarships to Latino college students who aspire to enter the PR field and this year, we had 4 deserving and wonderful college students. To our honorees Journalist of the Year Leon Krauze - it was an honor. Your work as a journalist and that of your peers is more important than ever. To our Presidents Award recipient Estuardo Rodriguez, your relentless drive and passion to build the National Museum of the American Latino is inspiring. And to our Pioneer Pedro Guerrero of Guerrero Media (Hispanic Executive), and DEI Champion Monica Bauer of PepsiCo, both of you remind us of the truth that exists - when we see Latinos in senior executive roles, we see in ourselves what is possible. Bravo HPRA! See you in 2025!
