Thousands of young professionals gathered in #Chicago this week to learn about leadership, excellence, and giving back. Could there be anything more #American? This is the incredible work of Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr. and the U.S. Hispanic Leadership Institute (#USHLI) — a legacy built over decades of dedication. It’s a privilege to witness firsthand. And dozens of influential leaders, both Latino and non-Latino, many of whom are USHLI alumni, shared their wisdom and mentorship, investing in the future of this country. Why? Because these young people are not just the future — they are the present: - Latino youth make up 25% of all young people in the United States. Only behind the Anglo cohort. - They will represent 78% of the new workforce in this country because of their youth: the age most populated in the Latino community is 13 years old; non-latinos, 58 years old. - 95% of them were born here, and this growth is homegrown, not from immigration. They are American citizens, with English as their first language. - They are bicultural, bilingual, and international. They are graduating in record numbers, hard-working, highly patriotic, family-oriented. - And deeply motivated to honor the sacrifices of their parents and make their parents’ hard work worth it. These young leaders — both men and women — represent one of the greatest gifts this country has. They are hungry for growth and ready to make their mark. A massive congratulations to #DrJuanAndrade, his wonderful wife Elena, his dedicated staff, and the USHLI board for their unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders. And congratulations to the #200%ers!! These young Latinos, who despite the harsh current rhetoric, continue working hard, honoring both this country and their heritage, and being 100% American AND 100% Latino, NOT HAVING TO CHOOSE. #Viva! Please, share below your example and/or comments about this powerful cohort we all have seen in action!
