The House of Representatives is preparing to vote on #HR9495, a bill that gives the Secretary of the Treasury unchecked power to virtually eliminate nonprofit groups with the stroke of a pen. President and CEO @Frankie Miranda discusses the often-overlooked power of the Latino vote.?Unfortunately, at the end of this election season, 45% of Latinos reported that they were not contacted by any political campaigns or groups to mobilize their vote. 9 days before election day, the Trump campaign hosted a rally where Puerto Rico was called a “floating island of garbage” and Latinos were ridiculed, sparking a cry of outrage from Latinos, especially Puerto Ricans, across the country. In response to these remarks, mobilizing the Latino vote in Pennsylvania became a top priority for political campaigns, and we saw a 9% shift in Latinos in Pennsylvania moving to support Harris over Trump. This shift underscores the importance of targeted, timely engagement in Latino communities. It’s clear that meaningful, year-round outreach is essential—not just during election season. Member agencies and partners who support their communities’ financial health are welcome to apply for funding through this initiative. “Having navigated the pains of being separated from my partner for so many years as we maneuvered past the hurdles of our immigration system, I know personally how?inhumane and heartbreaking the process is when you’re separated from your loved one because of our antiquated and illogical immigration system,” Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation reacted to this week’s Federal Court ruling striking down the Keeping Families Together Program, also known as Parole in Place, a program allowing certain long-tenured undocumented members of mixed-status families to apply to adjust their status while remaining in their communities with their families.
