The Diversity Committee of The Mo Bar's Young Lawyers' Section will be hosting a networking hour at the Luvwoo Bar in Creve Coeur, St. Louis on Thursday, Dec 5, 2024 from 5-7pm. We will be serving Korean fried chicken and beverages, which include cocktails. Each Mo Bar member will be provided 2 complimentary drink tokens upon check-in. In July 2024, the Missouri Congress created a committee to study crime by undocumented immigrants. The AILA MO-KS chapter gave testimony in Kansas, Jefferson City, and St. Louis City. I was proud to give my testimony and be one of the document drafters attached. It is the AILA MO-KS chapter testimony submitted to the committee. Immigration is a fundamental aspect of our globalized world, shaping the evolution of our societies. While some may criticize immigration, it's essential to remember that it involves real people. Research shows that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes compared to native-born U.S. citizens. In my experience, this is often attributed to immigrants' strong adherence to the law, driven by a fear of deportation and a desire to provide better opportunities for their families. Undocumented immigrants in the U.S. contribute over $35 billion in taxes annually, yet they are often criticized for not paying taxes. In fact, many of them would not be able to access social security benefits. Despite these obstacles, they work tirelessly to support their families and contribute to the growth of America. As we approach the elections, it's crucial to seek the truth about immigration and not fall for false narratives. Understanding the reality and complexities of immigration is vital, especially in the face of harmful rhetoric that undermines our country. #Immigration #Elections #AILA #AILAMOKAN #UndocumentedImmigrants
