In the latest interview for the HIPERZAB Project, Dr. Sara Andrenacci shares insights into the development of a zinc/biopolymer composite anode, a key advancement for electrically rechargeable zinc-air batteries (ERZABs). ?? By leveraging a cold sintering process, SINTEF has created a highly porous (50%+) anode that enhances ionic conductivity, maximizes zinc utilization, and overcomes key challenges like corrosion, dendrite formation, and active mass loss. ?? ???? The HIPERZAB Project has officially kicked off Work Package 6 (WP6): From materials to system understanding through operando technique development and modelling. This critical phase, led by German Aerospace Center (DLR) in collaboration with IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya, focuses on advancing characterization and multiscale #modelling methods to gain a deeper understanding of cell and component behavior during operation. Key objectives of WP6 include: ?Developing and applying advanced operando techniques to study performance- and lifetime-limiting phenomena. ?Revealing limiting processes for performance and lifetime, paving the way for optimized components, materials, and cell design.
