In collaboration with the National Association of Black Physical Therapists, Inc, we’re proud to support two outstanding professionals in advancing their education with continuing education courses in pelvic health at Herman & Wallace Inc. in Atlanta. Access to pelvic health physical therapists (PHPTs) remains extremely limited across the nation, which can disproportionately affect women and underserved communities. Meet the recipients of our 2024 Pelvic Health Education Scholarship: Deidra Charity PT, DPT, SCS, Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is involved in both clinical practice and academic instruction. With a passion for sports rehabilitation and injury prevention, Deidra is also committed to increasing diversity within the field of physical therapy. A Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy, she is actively engaged in promoting community across her state through her leadership in APTA North Carolina. Heather Scoby, DPT, a physical therapist at a county hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, brings her dedication to underserved patients. Originally from Zachary, Louisiana, Heather provides care to individuals with limited access to physical therapy. She is passionate about bringing pelvic floor therapy to her facility, where it is currently unavailable, and is excited to deepen her expertise through this scholarship.
