SoCal HIMSS chapter is one of more than 50 affiliated chapters of HIMSS, the largest health care information systems professional organization in the nation. Our purpose is to bring health care professionals together to promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge among colleagues and to assist members in their professional growth. We accomplish these objectives by presenting educational seminars/conferences, networking opportunities, and a forum for the exchange of ideas among those committed to the goal of improving patient care through the effective use of information technology. Our chapter members come from diverse backgrounds, all involved in some aspect of health care information systems and management. Our members consist of professionals from hospitals, clinic organizations, third-party payers, administrators, information technology vendors, nurses, consultants, physicians, and essentially anyone interested in the trends of health care information and management systems. SoCal HIMSS is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(6) non-profit organization.

To support our healthcare community members in the impacted areas, HIMSS of Southern California has compiled key resources: HEALTH AND MEDICAL CARE Teladoc Health is offering free, 24/7 virtual medical care to Southern California residents, first responders and others impacted by the raging fires burning in Los Angeles. Individuals displaced by fires or those who are unable to access traditional medical care can consult licensed healthcare professionals for non-emergency illnesses by calling 855-225-5032. Services include treatment for conditions such as respiratory infections, allergies, sinus problems and cold or flu symptoms, company officials said.
