This past Friday, Hillside Private Capital concluded the semester with a presentation to Apollo Global Management, Inc. at their New York City headquarters. The team dove deeper into key components of the macro environment, developed an investment thesis, and learned about alternative allocation strategies. A great way to end off an impactful semester! A special thank you to the Apollo team for partnering with Hillside Private Capital during Fall 2024 and providing insights into real-world investment strategies, career pathways, fund portfolio construction, and more.

This semester, Hillside Private Capital had the opportunity to partner with James Barra, Zachary Luce, and Patrick Patrell of Ironwood Capital, a CT-based middle-market junior capital provider. Analysts were exposed to their junior debt and equity co-investment strategy which provided a unique perspective through rigorous case work and corresponding discussions. The case studies completed allowed analysts to simulate the role of an Ironwood Analyst by conducting diligence, building models, drafting investment memos, and participating in a mock investment committee meeting. Hillside Private Capital is greatly appreciative of Ironwood's participation to our fund's learning and development this semester.

These experiences have given our fund practical exposure to the challenges and opportunities in private equity and have been invaluable to our learning and growth. Hillside Private Capital has had an exciting month, hosting a slate of dynamic leaders and industry professionals. Among these professionals was Chris Lafond, who visited the fund last week. Chris, a UConn School of Business Alumnus and CEO of Insurity, spoke about leading a Private Equity-backed firm to provide our analysts with insights from the operator's perspective. We thank Chris for his time and look forward to a semester full of learning and growth.

Fortress is proud to partner with University of Connecticut’s Hillside Ventures program. Over the past year, we’ve had the great fortune to teach a select group of students eager to understand the inner workings of the private credit market and Fortress’ approach. “Fortress has made many great investments, but this program is one I’m particularly grateful to be a part of,” said Jerome Hayden, Head of Internal Sales for the Fortress Private Wealth business, during an interview.
