Our current Hillsborough County Clerk of Court and Comptroller is Cindy Stuart. The Clerk & Comptroller is committed to protecting and preserving the public trust. The Hillsborough County Clerk of Court & Comptroller provides a wide range of vital services to the public. Electronically certified records, adoptions, marriages, divorces, criminal and civil records, deeds and foreclosures, passport applications, and alimony payments are just some of the services the Office provides. Above all, the Clerk’s Office is committed to integrity, transparency, and accountability. An elected Clerk of Court has been a part of the Florida Constitution since 1835, and it is rapidly changing to meet the demands of the digital citizen. A technological revolution is transforming the organization office, including millions of court records filed electronically in just the past few years. The IT Department has played a crucial role in making this happen. Financial Watch: As Comptroller, the office serves as an independent watchdog over Hillsborough County finances. It conducts annual audits and safeguards hundreds of millions of dollars in county funds. It handles the payroll for Hillsborough County government and it pays the bills. It tracks thousands of pieces of county-owned equipment. It delivers the mail to over 250 locations at all county offices. Clerks keep the minutes of every Hillsborough County Commission meeting and the Value Adjustment Board. Supporting our Courts: Court Clerks protect 13th Judicial Circuit Court records, swear in witnesses, and record evidence at trials. They collect court-ordered fines, fees, and costs - a portion of which supports our operations and that of other Clerks around the state. The Office also supports one of the foundations of Democracy by summoning thousands of jurors every year.

Members of our Admin Team are in Tallahassee as part of the annual Clerks’ Day that occurs during the Legislative Session. They have had a full schedule so far visiting Hillsborough County Legislative Delegation lawmakers about the Clerk’s legislative agenda and even got to walk on the Senate and House floors. Today our Senior Director Criminal Courts, Aileen Shaw, was honored by Florida Supreme Court Clerk John A. Tomasino with a special gift for all the work she did with her jury team on the Statewide Grand Juries over the last three years. Aileen has been with the Clerk's Office for 36 years and described the work she did on the Statewide Grand Juries as something "amazing - it is so great to be this far in my career and get the chance to learn new things!". Congrats Aileen on the well deserved honor! #hillsclerk
