This weekend, Hijas del Campo hosted the 4th annual Tech Event in Partnership with the HOLA (Hispanics of Lenovo Association) Lenovo! This is the fourth year that the Lenovian's have advocated for Hijas del Campo's campesinX families to receive needed and necessary laptops to support these amazing young learners. 40 students received brand new devices to continue and support their educational goals. 20 computers came straight from Lenovo and another 20 refurbished Lenovo laptops purchased directly from Tech Exchange thanks to generous support from the #LenovoFoundation. Thank you to Lenovians Laura Gomez, Henry Ramos, Jose and ?? Henya for always joining us to share their expertise, personal stories, love and support!?#LoveOn Thank you to the amazing Latina owned businesses #MoonlightMixers and #DiggersDinerBrentwood for donating not only their time BUT all of their deliciousness!??The great thing about both of these small businesses is they are also Hijas del Campo - and, chose to support as they can identify in the journey of our students as well. Shout out to the Tech Exchange team - Betty, Linda, Taki and Ulises for coming through with giveaways, information on access support, and tech support. Last and definitely not least, thank you to our amazing local volunteers for always showing up and helping us make events like these possible. The need to bridge our campesinX community to digital literacy is huge but the coming together of an international business like Lenovo with an org like Hijas del Campo is helping us to get to what our vision is poco a poc. #JuntosSomosMas

Another successful year of L??ve On initiatives for Lenovo Month of Services! I appreciate Lenovo for providing us Lenovians with the opportunity to participate globally every September. It's refreshing to shift focus from our daily workloads to meaningful causes. This year, I supported Dress for Success San Francisco/ San Jose, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Othakarhaka - Passing on the kindness , and Hijas Del Campo. Each organization offers a unique perspective but shares a common mission of community building and uplifting each other. We are happy to announce the kick-off of our #HDCLunchandLearn series for the 2024-2025 school year! We are so grateful for our very first guest speaker, Jerry Marquez of BAC Community Bank at Liberty High School! Jerry shared his story about the beautiful influence his immigrant parents and family had on him growing up, teaching him values and work ethics that he has carried with him into adulthood. He shared his journey from working in the fields as a child to being the first to graduate from college in his family! Jerry shared how he worked multiple jobs while in college but remained focused on the end goal. Thank you to the incomparable Mrs. Elizabeth Gonzalez for always setting the stage and doing this work with us for her amazing students! We are grateful to Jerry for he surely inspired the students and encouraged all of us to “Ponte las Pilas!”

Our Relationship Manager, Jerry Marquez, was asked to speak to a group of students at Liberty High School in partnership with Hijas Del Campo and their High School Keynote Speaker series.? This series was created for students to have group discussions with professionals in various careers.? Speakers are encouraged to speak about their personal experiences, the steps they took to get into their career, any challenges they have faced, and what a day in the life of their career looks like.? As a small organization, we are more than grateful for the partnership with the state to support a streamlined reporting process. Yet, we know this isnt enough to protect our most vulnerable community members.
