National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is an annual spring campaign held at the start of the construction season to encourage safe driving through highway work zones. The key message is for drivers to use extra caution in work zones. Struck-by injuries are a leading cause of death, and since 1992 the leading cause of nonfatal injuries in the construction industry. Another damaged girder? No problem! Repairs & retrofit's of existing bridge structures is something we've become well adept at tackling over the years. We teamed with Granite Construction on this WSDOT project in 2022. The NB 12th St. NE Bridge Girder Replacement project put this bridge back into full service after it was struck in 2021. Beautiful day for a deck pour! On 3/5/24 our crews placed the bridge deck on the WSDOT Lind Ave. Bridge Span Replacement project! We're one BIG step closer to reopening this bridge to traffic. The bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic for nearly two years as a result of damage caused to the girders when a backhoe being towed on a trailer hit the structure resulting in its closure until replacement work could be completed.
