Happy to host the Build Boston squad at Autodesk Technology Centers last week. Even though the group comes from all corners of the AEC industry, we are all effected by the same positive and negative forces, and it’s great to share the shear potential for improvement in our sector of the industry! Crazy amount of innovation going on within the housing space! I had the opportunity to tour Highland Park Technologies space within the Autodesk innovation space with my friend and client Evan Smith and was very impressed with what he is building. What I found most interesting was that Evan’s panelized tech was not focused on new builds but rather on enhancing the existing stock of millions of energy inefficient homes to create passive houses across the US. It’s a huge addressable market. The system works by cladding the exterior of a home (think of an IKEA closet system) with a rail and then components. Once the rails are in-place exterior panels (providing insulation) can then be clicked into place (See photos). Pretty soon we’ll be building and renovating houses like Legos. I find the construction/built tech space fascinating and see the industry being transformed over the next decade, imho, and working to keep RD Advisors on the cutting edge.
