We are thrilled to welcome Beth Garrity to the High Hopes Board of Trustees! ?? With over 12 years of experience at J.P. Morgan, Beth brings invaluable financial expertise to our team. She joined our Finance Committee in 2022 and has shown a deep commitment to our mission. Beth’s connection to High Hopes runs even deeper—her sister-in-law has been a participant in our therapeutic riding program, and her husband's family has been involved with High Hopes for years. This legacy of care and commitment is something we’re excited to see continue through Beth’s leadership on the Board. A lifelong equestrian, Beth grew up riding in Montclair, NJ, and is passionate about animals, also volunteering with Muddy Paws, a NYC-based dog adoption agency. We’re so grateful to have her with us as we carry forward our mission! Learn more about her background at the link below: https://lnkd.in/eAz9qJ-F

A vibrant community in Old Lyme, CT, where horses & humans work together to help improve lives.
关于我们
High Hopes is a vibrant community of horses and humans whose purpose is to improve the lives of people living with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities. Through Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies we seek to empower and support our participants, volunteers, friends and indeed, our supporters. Seventy-Five percent of our revenue each year is generated from donations and fundraisers. Through our dedicated development team, and valued supporters, our community aims to ensure that anyone who could benefit from the horse-human interaction is able to do so, regardless of their ability to pay. Our participants include children born with physical and cognitive disabilities, adults who are living their lives with cognitive or sensory disabilities, veterans and their families dealing with the impact of deployment and/or PTSD, teens dealing with anxiety, families recovering from domestic abuse, and individuals of all ages living with, or caring for someone with dementia. All can benefit from the unique and therapeutic activities that High Hopes staff, herd, and 650+ volunteers provide. We welcome you to become part of our community, as a partner, a volunteer, a participant, or an occasional visitor to the farm.

Congrats to our November Volunteer Spotlight, Matthew Sarti! Matt joined High Hopes as a rider over 25 years ago and was recognized as “Rider of the Year” in 2018. Since then, Matt began volunteering in the office at High Hopes shredding documents. When he’s not at High Hopes, Matt loves swimming and eating his favorite food (his mom’s pasta and sauce). Matt enjoys seeing everyone while he’s here at High Hopes so feel free to stop and introduce yourself next time you see him shredding!

Congrats to our October Volunteer Spotlight, Sara Carpenter! Sara has been volunteering at High Hopes as a barn volunteer for almost 2 years. Recently, she started working with the High Hopes horses as well. When Sara isn’t volunteering, she enjoys bird watching, gardening, and hiking. One of her favorite things about volunteering at High Hopes is meeting new people so if you see her around, please say “hi”! Thank you for all that you do, Sara!

Today, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to recognize and honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Native American people. At High Hopes, we acknowledge the deep connection between Indigenous peoples and the land, as well as the healing power of horses. Horses were central to many Indigenous cultures, and are still important in Native American culture today. Therapeutic riding has long been embraced in many Indigenous cultures as a means of fostering well-being and connection to nature. We are committed to honoring these traditions by promoting inclusivity and awareness within our programs. On this day, we encourage everyone to reflect on the importance of understanding and respecting Indigenous heritage. Together, lets create a future where all cultures are uplifted and celebrated. Thank you for being part of this path toward respect and understanding.
