?? Today marks a major life milestone, and quite a serendipitous week in the calendar too! #neurodiversitycelebrationweek I’m thrilled to announce my first book “Workplace Transformation: A Journey for Visionary Leaders to Reimagine the Workplace Experience & Build a Better World” is now available on Amazon Kindle! (Check it out in the comments! ? ? ) If you really know me, you know what I come up against in my daily interactions — particularly the challenge of communicating in socially digestible ways. Though on the topic of #socialinnovation in the modern workplace, there’s a lot to get out of my brain and into the world… and I wasn’t going to allow this challenge to stop a movement far greater than me. The behind-the-scenes story of this book goes something like this…. This project started off as a podcast, though I ultimately choose to channel my ideas into a book after experiencing a serious problem in spoken dialogue: a breakdown in social reciprocity. The problem is personal, and it’s collective. Our world desperately needs to learn how to build bridges- within ourselves, our relationships, our businesses, our institutions, and our cultures. And to bridge the empathy gaps in cross cultural conversation, both sides of a dialogue must be ready, willing, and able to take responsibility for their impact on one another. Through working on this book, I learned a valuable leadership lesson: Social responsibility looks different for everyone, though universally, it requires an honest consideration to your impact in the here and now. ?? My responsibility is to speak up and call in the visionary leaders who have the power to shape a more equitable and inclusive society. Now is a moment in our history where neurodivergent people are knocking on the walls of our business paradigm with their innovative ideas. The question is, who is ready to open the door, to let in ideas that challenge your beliefs about business, to confront the shadows of your ego,?and double down on inclusion efforts to integrate our workforce? I believe every professional deserves to have opportunities to contribute in meaningful ways, and we can create a greater impact when we transcend cross cultural barriers for something greater than ourselves: the future of our world. For those of you who believe in the power of our global workforce to come together for the betterment of our world, this book is for you. And for those of you who are still reading this post, please take a moment to celebrate with me by supporting Workplace Transformation on Amazon now! Get your copy, write a review, your amplification is appreciated ?? #neuroinclusion #workplaceexperience #workplacetransformation #socialimpact #neurodiversityatwork #inclusionatwork #leadershipdevelopment

?? We're myth-busting in Forbes! So who is "we" anyway? There's a group of canaries inside our institutions who have a knack for highlighting the shortcomings within mainstream approaches to workplace inclusion. You know the expression, "canary in the coal mine," and you also likely know those leaders and professionals who have a tendency to alert the others of the problems - often long before the issues have devastating ramifications. While it's easy to reprimand us for chirping too loudly, perceive us as taking words too literally, or deem us as too sensitive, we understand the urgency of the moment: Now is the time to challenge a paradigm that impedes our neurodiverse workforce (everyone!) from contributing at our full potential. Deep appreciation to Ludmila Praslova, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, ?? for using language to amplify our global movement and our lived experiences: Cathy Rashidian, PCAC, PCC, Muriel Van Gompel Check out the full Forbes article in comments to read about three common problems and one powerful solution! ?? #neurodiversity #neuroinclusion

??? While connecting with Dwayne Jenkins, MD MBA, CPC on his Words of Love podcast, he posed one of the most powerful questions: “If the Double Empathy Problem is the problem, what’s the answer?” For some context, Dr. Dwayne and I were discussing the breakdowns in communication and understanding that often happen between neurodivergent and neurotypical people. The Double Empathy Problem refers to this very phenomenon—where both parties struggle to see, understand, and empathize with one another. But it doesn’t stop there. These communication breakdowns are common for anyone navigating across different cultures, perspectives, or experiences. ?? Throughout the episode, we explored the answers to this challenge. Dr. Dwayne's incredible coaching presence made it a deeply enriching and insightful conversation. ?? Take a listen, and I’d love to hear what resonates with you! ?? Who’s responsible for the evolution of an ecosystem? The change agents: those ready to unite individual agendas and drive collective action through an interconnected strategy. The challenge—and the blessing—is that change agents are everywhere, from the C-Suite, to the frontline, and in the messy middle. Since change agents often work independently, they need a way to come together—a reason to rally their resources. This is why workplace initiatives are so exciting and impactful. They hold the highest potential in modern organizations, offering a new structure where cross-sections of leaders can collaborate and drive real systemic change. Now, you can see initiatives happening inside BRGs and ERGs; they are also emerging through special projects. Though as we continue moving forward into the future of work, workplace initiatives will become central to business sprints—accelerating missions and shaping the broader ecosystem. Since founding Higher Playbook six years ago, I’ve seen first-hand how a non-localized workforce has dissolved traditional structures. The workplace has evolved from a place of productivity to a hub for connectivity, making initiatives a central part of sustaining a workforce yearning for a connection to something greater than themselves. In order to build a truly interconnected workplace, where what we do inside our organizations serves the broader world, it’s vital for professionals to believe in our power as change agents, to identify the causes that matter to us, and focus on one initiative at a time. Ultimately, from one organization to the next, we have an opportunity in the now to activate our collective power as a network of change agents through aligning in causes and initiatives that matter to the world at large… so that the entire business ecosystem can rise. ? #ecosystems #interconnectivity #futureofwork #workplaceexperience #futurists #innovators #socialinnovation

?? A team is not so different from a family system. In many families, it's common to find an identified “problem”— the one seen as too different from the rest. At first glance, the assumption is they need to “fix” themselves to align with the family’s norms. ?? But what if the outlier is the key to healing generational patterns? The one who cultivates higher levels of self-awareness in their pursuit of understanding self, others, and the family dynamic. ? From the outlier, we learn about relativity. Relativity shifts our focus from individual behaviors to the patterns within the system. This awareness helps us break cycles of blaming, shaming, and ostracizing those who are actually driving evolution. In the workplace, understanding team dynamics and fostering strong relationships allows us to integrate the outlier: ?? Sometimes they’re the leader. ?? Sometimes they’re the top performer. ?? But 100% of the time, the outlier is everyone. When we embrace the outlier in each of us, we unlock the power of difference to accelerate business transformation. ?? Want to explore how integrating outlier tendencies can evolve your team? Message me to learn more about Higher Playbook's approach to transforming workplace dynamics through integrating outlier potential. #teamdynamics #socialinnovation #inclusion #neurodiversityatwork #workplaceculture #workplaceexperience #leadershipdevelopment

?? Can you relate to that feeling of existential anxiety? That sense that something is missing... a piece of yourself that remains unseen, unnamed. You live in a constant state of hypervigilance, learning to mask from the world. While many of us can connect to this feeling on some level, those who’ve spent decades without understanding their #neurodivergence often experience a chronic, hidden panic. Without the vocabulary to understand yourself, how can you form meaningful connections? “Something feels off…” “I can’t quite put my finger on it…” “There must be something wrong…” This internal dialogue mirrors the judgments we face from the outside world. It’s a lonely space for those with unidentified invisible differences. ?? Language and safe environments are essential to creating the connections we all need. This belief is at the heart of Higher Playbook's Unmasking Neurodiversity workshop, and I’m committed to bringing this social learning experience into more workplaces. ?? Curious to learn more? ?? Systems thinker to systems thinker ?? Let’s talk about accelerating #systemschange in our workplaces. How can we create more equitable and inclusive environments for our neurodiverse workforce—essentially for everyone? Yesterday, in our Unmasking Neurodiversity workshop, we came together to explore actionable steps for reshaping the workplace experience. When change agents are aligned in shared commitments, they each play their part in activating the mission. The workshop became a microcosm of what’s possible in organizations when social dynamics are understood and harnessed. ?? Here are some of the key actions we uncovered: ? Action 1: Recognize and embrace each other’s identities—transforming team dynamics through mutual understanding. ? Action 2: Share lived experiences—revealing hidden biases and surfacing systemic needs. ? Action 3: Invest in social innovation— empowering change agents to lead with inclusive leadership principles that drive tangible outcomes. When each person understands their role in the broader mission, we can reshape policies, processes, and practices to evolve the workplace. ?? Want to dive deeper? Message me for the replay of yesterday’s session and learn more about Higher Playbook’s neurodiversity initiatives. #inclusion #leadership #neurodiversity #neurodiversityatwork #ndeam #socialimpact #socialinnovation #innovation #inclusiveworkplaces #leadershipdevelopment

?? In a recent facilitation of Unmasking Neurodiversity, two late-diagnosed neurodivergent professionals expressed a similar experience... They didn’t receive a diagnosis until they had become too much of a problem in their workplace for others; at which point, they were deep in the trenches of #autistic burnout. The intervention, in their case, required them to seek psychological support to address the questions that plague so many undiagnosed ND: ?? What is wrong with me? ?? Why does everyone hate me? ?? Why am I the identified problem? You can imagine how problematic it is when the ND talent identifies with this narrative. From perfectionism to self-destruction, we get in the habit of overtaking responsibility... instead of giving the responsibility back to those we look to and lean on for leadership. (?? Continue reading if you are ready to take responsibility for your leadership, even if that means tickling your ego slightly... ??) While there are many opportunities for modern leadership to become more embodied in their daily DEI, the real problem that needs addressing NOW is the rationale for identifying ND talent. If you see neurodivergent ways of being as problematic/ disruptive and take on the responsibility to identify neurodivergent people so that you can [insert improvement plan], when are you planning on addressing the systemic problems? And how? ?? Key Insight: A more inclusive and sustainable solution is seeing the inequitable ways of the system and supporting the evolution of the system through workplace interventions.?? A workplace intervention is a moment or experience, e.g. a workshop, keynote, or impact initiative, that activates leadership and professionals across an organization to unite in their collective commitment to remove the barriers to equity and inclusion for all. What does a workplace intervention look in practice? I'm excited to show you this Thursday for Higher Playbook's Unmasking Neurodiversity session hosted in partnership with the CONSCIOUS BUSINESS INSTITUTE! If you're passionate about #neurodiversity, #peopleandculture, and #consciousbusiness, then join us to experience the transformational impact of a workplace intervention. ?? ?? 10 micro moments that compromise dignity in the workplace, that you may not even realize… ?? Every time you lead a meeting or host a program and say, “You have to have your cameras on to get attendance credit,” someone ready to learn and contribute isn't able to be present. ?? Every time you recruit a candidate and instruct them, “Wait until after you get hired to share that detail about yourself,” someone is stripped of their basic freedoms. ?? Every time you ignore an accessibility problem in a workplace, whether that be the bathrooms, the lighting, the ramps… someone gives their notice. ?? Every time you interpret opting out of a social activity as a lack of commitment, someone with high aspirations and invested interest is deeply devalued. ?? Every time you say no to flexible policy out of fear someone will abuse it, someone feels the dread of having to ask for an accommodation. ?? Every time you have the unspoken thought, “Is that really a disability or just an excuse?” someone knows you’re not really an inclusive leader. Your energy is real and easy to sense. ?? Every time you come from the assumption someone with a mental health condition needs support, someone who can potentially HELP YOU disengages. ?? Every time you avoid a topic by putting an incident report on the back burner, someone loses hope in the mission… and hope in humanity. ?? Every time you justify your leadership by saying, “it works for the majority,” someone is questioning why you’re in that leadership position. ?? Every time you judge another for not working hard enough… someone is working harder than you can even perceive. Promise. Difficult to read? Absolutely and understandably so... These activated emotions are alerting us to a collective truth: We can ALL only "do the best we can," and a part of doing the best we can is knowing when there’s an opportunity to increase your understanding... and leaning in to listen. To listen to the canaries who are calling you into deeper conversation. We are the ones who are operating at the edges and have a vast amount of data to illuminate systemic business dysfunction. Ludmila Praslova, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, ?? and I are two of those canaries, perfectly perched for this moment and passionate about leading this conversation at SXSW. We’re proposing “Dignity at Work: Empowering Authenticity and Accomplishment” to invite participants to explore real world cases, find innovative solutions, and master dignity-affirming skills. We're inviting people to come together to experience a complete 360 on the thoughts, words, and actions that impact #dignityatwork ... Because modern leaders can DO better. Dignity at work. It is often overlooked. Yet, it's essential for true inclusion and belonging and for unlocking talent and creativity. So what does #dignityatwork look like? Dignity means honoring the inherent value of every employee. It is not a favor. It is not optional. And it should never be conditional on assimilation. ? Employees should never have to abandon their cultures to fit in.? ? Neurodivergent people should not be forced to mask. ? People with non-apparent disabilities should not have to fear disclosing their conditions at work or having to ask for accommodations. ? Women should not have to learn masculine behavior.? ? No one should feel like "opting out" of social activities will cost them a promotion. Ludmila Praslova, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, ?? and I believe that shaping better workplaces starts with instilling dignity into our workplaces, where ?? Diverse leaders represent and promote culture co-creation. ?? All identities are championed and empowered to show up and share. ?? Policies are shaped with flexibility and full representation of talent in mind. ?? Employees are rewarded on merit and objective data. ?? Authentic self-expression - with all the values and virtues of humanity- enriches how we work, lead, and contribute to the world. This is why we're proposing "Dignity at Work: Empowering Authenticity and Empowerment", a workshop at the 2025 #SXSW Conference! Bringing change to our workplaces starts with initiating the conversation, role-modeling inclusive leadership, and practicing dignity-affirming skills... ... and we need your VOTES to bring our workshop to Austin! (See link in comments to VOTE NOW!!!) ?? Please take a moment to VOTE NOW for our workshop and be a part of building inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive. We're thrilled to represent and thank you for the support! ?? #ApplicantatSXSW #neurodiversityatwork #neuroinclusion #voteforus #socialinnovation #consciousleadership #futureofwork
