Since joining McDaniel in 2003 as an English professor, Dr. Jasken has made a lasting impact on the college, from designing the McDaniel Commitment, which offers students personalized, mentor-guided learning experiences, to leading DEI efforts and steering the college through the challenges of the pandemic. A true champion of the liberal arts, Dr. Jasken, continues to shape the future of McDaniel with her visionary leadership. Women leaders at every level from California State University, Chico attended the American Council on Education Women's Leadership Network Northern CA annual meeting this week. Amazing presentations from CSU women presidents Cynthia Teniente-Matson, Britt Rios-Ellis, and Cathy Sandeen and HERS President Gloria Thomas, and excellent breakout sessions. Leaving the University of Tampa in May 2024 after 16 years was not an easy decision. I grew up there as a teacher-scholar and had opportunities to develop leadership skills, share my experiences about my academic journey with others and learn from smart, compassionate and strong women leaders dedicated to students and higher education. The creation of the UTampa Chapter of the American Council on Education Women’s Network was in some ways years in the making but when we officially launched it in spring 2024 it felt like it was the culmination of all my experiences at UTampa. I am so excited that this Fall kick-off event was a huge success and I can’t wait to see what this group of amazing women leaders are going to do in the future. I am honored that I got to be a part of this group! A huge thank you to HERS for the inspiration and space to develop this project! Next up…Salve Regina University !
The American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Network at the University of Tampa hosted President Teresa Abi-Nader Dalberg on Oct. 29 to explore her leadership journey at their first event of the year. From door-to-door sales as a kid to her path from the corporate world to academia, Dahlberg shared how she navigated the highs and lows that brought her to the helm of UTampa today. The ACE Women’s Network UTampa chapter, launched in the spring of 2024, provides opportunities to gather for networking, leadership training and building mentoring relationships for women in higher education.
