On January 23, 2024 we held an on-field press conference at Dobbins Stadium announcing the creation of the organization, launching our inaugural season with just 118 days until Opening Day. On September 21, 2024, just 242 days later, with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning the High Wheelers trailed the Range Riders 7-5. Bobby Lada came up to the plate with two men on and launched the first pitched he saw of the top of the left field foul pole for a championship winning walk-off home run at Dobbins Stadium. The Yolo High Wheelers are Your Team, in Your Community, in Your Backyard, and now Your 2024 Pioneer League Champions! The Yolo High Wheelers continue their historic inaugural season, punching their ticket to the 2024 Pioneer League Championship Series for the first time after a thrilling 6-4 victory over the Oakland Ballers at Raimondi Park on Friday night. The High Wheelers took the best-of-three series 2-1, fueled by a team-wide effort. The Yolo High Wheelers made a strong statement in their playoff debut, defeating the Oakland Ballers 14-4 in Game One of the Pioneer League First Round at Dobbins Stadium. Yolo now leads the best-of-three series 1-0 and is just one win away from advancing to the Championship Round. Oakland struck first, scoring twice in the second inning, but Yolo quickly responded, tying the game on an RBI single by David Glancy and a sacrifice fly by Angel Mendoza. The High Wheelers took control in the third inning with a two-out, two-run single by Tanner Smith, making it 4-2. A seven-run eighth inning, highlighted by Mendoza’s solo home run, sealed the victory for Yolo. Cameron Repetti earned the win, allowing three runs over five innings. Yolo’s bullpen was stellar, giving up only one run over four innings. Smith led the offensive charge with five RBIs, while Mendoza added three RBIs, including his first home run in Davis. Game Two is set for Thursday, September 12 at 6:35 PM in Oakland. A win will send the High Wheelers to the Pioneer League Championship Round, where they will face either the Missoula PaddleHeads or Glacier Range Riders.
