The worst advice someone can give you as a founder/CEO: “Hire great executives and get out of their way” But this is exactly what countless business gurus told me as I was building Classy into the hundreds of people… And it blew up in my face. Turns out the same thing happened to the founder of Airbnb too, Brian Chesky. And the results were just as disastrous.?? So he had to figure out a better way to run things (as did I). The founder of Y-Combinator even gave this leadership style a cool name: Founder-Mode. ???→ But what the f*ck is Founder Mode? ???→ And how do you scale your company in it? I answered these exact questions in this 3,000-word article I just published. Every word comes from experience - either my own, or reflections from legendary founders I admire... Here's a few (outside of Chesky): ? Reed Hastings, Netflix ? Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia ? Daniel Ek, Spotify ? Brian Halligan, Hubspot And then of course, a dose of Andy Grove, the epic CEO of Intel, and author of my favorite business book, High Output Management. So, forget what the business gurus are telling you... And read this article instead: https://lnkd.in/gZWJPuc8 Would love to know what you think in the comments!

One of the most significant moments in my journey was realising that I had to unlearn as much as I had to learn. The expertise that brought me success was the same expertise that was starting to get in my way. I had to become a beginner again, to look at the world through a new lens and reimagine everything. Acknowledging that there's always more to learn is the secret to keeping ahead. Image credit: Quoted Visually ==== Creator Credit: Steven Bartlett (give him a follow!)
