The U.S. Department of Education continues to emphasize the importance of "high-dosage tutoring" as a key strategy in helping students achieve their educational goals. The "Raise the Bar: Lead the World" initiative includes assisting states and school districts in "achieving academic recovery and excellence by creating conditions that accelerate learning and provide a comprehensive and rigorous education for every student." https://lnkd.in/g6v_wYji A crucial part of this effort includes offering individualized and small-group support for students through high-intensity tutoring, increasing access to robust science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), and arts education, as well as enrichment and afterschool programs. High Impact Tutors (HIT) is dedicated to providing high-quality #tutoring assistance to all students, with a particular focus on those from low-income backgrounds. Our tutors are available seven days a week, are bilingual, and, most importantly, they uplift students by fostering confidence and a love for #STEM subjects. Closing the educational gap and leveling the playing field for low-income students from traditionally marginalized communities is a critical mission that requires targeted support and resources. By providing dedicated STEM tutoring programs, we can empower these students to excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and open doors to future opportunities. These tutoring initiatives are designed to address the unique challenges faced by these communities, such as limited access to resources and educational disparities. By tailoring the curriculum and instruction to their cultural backgrounds and experiences, we can create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students flourish. TechChicago week was great opportunity for start ups such as High Impact Tutors (HIT) to network at and forge new partnerships in the #EdTech space. Ruben Abarca and Daniel Torres, MBA, CFE were sharing the message of helping students embrace a love of #STEM and having access to affordable, high quality tutors regardless of their socioeconomic status through the amazing HIT platform. In particular, thanks to Peter Pellizzari, PhD for hosting the Chicago EdTech and social impact happy hour. Chicago EdTech community continues to grow and flourish. Looking forward the August meet up. Great reconnecting and meeting so many in that space. As many of us are getting ready to grab a "safe" glimpse at the solar eclipse. Lets remember that these are great opportunities to spark curiosity and interest in science among students. Here's how solar eclipses can serve as a powerful educational tool: --Rare Phenomenon: Solar eclipses are relatively rare events that capture people's attention. The anticipation and excitement surrounding an upcoming eclipse can generate interest in astronomy and science well in advance of the event. --Hands-On Learning: Observing a solar eclipse provides an opportunity for hands-on learning. Students can learn about the mechanics of eclipses, including how they occur. --Interdisciplinary Connections: Solar eclipses offer a chance to explore various disciplines within science, including astronomy, physics, and earth science. --Safety Awareness: Teaching students about the importance of safely observing solar eclipses can also be an educational opportunity. Learning about the dangers of looking directly at the sun and how to use proper viewing equipment reinforces lessons in optics and eye safety. --Cultural and Historical Significance: Solar eclipses have played significant roles in cultures and societies throughout history. --Community Engagement: Solar eclipses often bring communities together to witness the event. Organizing school viewing parties or outreach events can foster a sense of community. --Inspiring Wonder and Curiosity: Witnessing a solar eclipse firsthand can be a transformative experience for students, sparking wonder and curiosity about the universe. By leveraging the excitement and intrigue surrounding solar eclipses, educators can create engaging and memorable learning experiences that inspire students to explore the wonders of science and the natural world. High Impact Tutors (HIT) always looks for ways to inspire curiosity, engage with students and create memorable learning experiences. Love the work they are doing to help so many students gain a love of #STEM.
