Key Takeaways from the WalStreet Fireside Chat: Private & National Brands Through the Lens of Your Consumer What a fantastic panel discussion featuring Charles Greathouse, Chief Growth Officer at High Impact, alongside other industry experts. A few highlights from the chat: 1?? Differentiation Matters: RDSolutions (formerly RetailData) found that only about 10% of bettergoods items in the "Better For You" segment are comparable to other items while 72% of active Great Value items are more easily compared to others - consumers are looking for unique flavors & sensory experiences. 2?? The Power of Trust: Many consumers trust private label brands, but Charles stated "it’s a double-edged sword." Every product within the private brand?needs to consistently deliver value and quality or can risk losing trust across the entire brand. 3?? Price vs. Quality: Vincent Castagna shared his wisdom, saying:?“Consumers buy once for price and twice for quality.” ? 4?? Private Brands Surge: Inflation may be easing, but higher-income shoppers will hopefully stick around Walmart thanks to high-quality private label options like bettergoods?- with features like plant-based, culinary-inspired, and "made without" labels. 5?? Healthy Competition: The competition between private and national brands is pushing both to innovate and better serve consumers.
