The High Alert Institute thrilled to share that we have been selected as one of the outstanding nonprofit organizations for? Tech To The Rescue’s AI for Changemaker’s Accelerator Program - organized in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google.org.? As one of the 32 organizations selected for the #AIforHealth cohort, over the next months, we will embark on an AI learning & innovation journey together with tech companies that will be supporting us pro-bono! Our team includes Sarah Draugelis from Team fEMR, Morgan Cox from Colorado School of Mines, Robert Gillio from The Force for Health? Network and our own Allison Sakara, Donald Donahue, Robert Durham, and Maurice Ramirez, D.O., Ph.D.. We are all looking forward to learning and networking with the whole AI for Changemakers community and identifying the best ways in which we can benefit from AI. The 7-week AI Bootcamp is helping us learn and strategize around AI. Next we will be matched with an AI tech team from the Tech To The Rescue community that wants to support us on a pro-bono basis. Established in the wake of 9/11, the High Alert Institute, Inc. became a 501(c)3 educational public charity in 2011. Headquartered in Lake Wales, Florida, the High Alert Institute is dedicated to All Hazards One Health One Nature research & education across the globe. With the end of the pandemic, the Institute’s mission is pivoting disaster-readiness for humans to include animal welfare organizations and technological solutions to the looming climate disaster. The Institute advances awareness, resilience and sustainability in an All Hazards, One Health, One Nature (AHOHN) Framework through its four divisions and its digital publications. We promote accessibility of carbon negative choices and support preparedness/resilience for climate change and all hazards through multiple projects: ? Establishing and sustaining the One Health And Nature Alliance (OHANA) - a joint venture between non-profit and for-profit companies - to develop, deploy, and study the outcomes of green remediation and waste-to-energy technologies ? Establishing and sustaining the Advanced Learning One Nature Alliance (ALOHA) - a joint venture between non-profit and for-profit companies - to develop and deploy software solutions supporting preparedness/resilience to meet climate change and all hazards ? Designing and renovating their facility, using commonly available materials and technologies, to be the most energy efficient renovation in North America ? Testing off-the-shelf renewable energy systems including solar, wind, and battery backup for reliability in extreme weather conditions ? Developing, patenting, and bringing to market new and reimagined renewable energy technologies ? Coordinating freshwater exotic aquatic animal rescues and shelters under a mutual aid compact. Diplomate Spotlight -?Heidi Cordi??? Dr. Heidi Cordi is an associate professor of emergency medicine and deputy chief of the Division of Prehospital and Operational Medicine for the Albany Med Health System Network in New York. Additionally, she serves as the medical director for the Rensselaer County Bureau of Public Safety and 9-1-1 and various EMS agencies in the NY Capital District. She is also a co-founder and vice chair of the High Alert Institute, Inc. Dr. Cordi has earned an MS in biology research and an MPH in healthcare policy and emergency medical services. She has been involved in international medicine, doing medical mission work in places like the Peruvian Andes, Nigeria, and Malawi, and is a professor of emergency medicine and critical care at the Third People’s Hospital of Chengdu China. Dr. Cordi is one of the proud founding members of the American Board of Disaster Medicine (ABODM), and she has served as president of the American Academy of Disaster Medicine (AADM) and numerous other positions for both the board and academy.
