Balanced Life by Heather recognizes that many working moms struggle to find a balance between the career they love and spending quality time with their kids and as a result are experiencing burnout. Is this you? You feel guilt when you miss your kid's soccer game or can't stay late at work to support your team. You rush to get your kids to school or daycare so you won't be late for a meeting. You rush out of the office to pick your kids up from the after-school program with enough time to feed them before sports practice. You are exhausted and have little time to cope with stress and practice self-care. You want to be capable of managing it all so you can climb the corporate ladder; yet you feel depleted from trying to maintain this appearance. You can't find the time to exercise consistently and your nutrition has been suffering.   • This is huge! ?? An international team of researchers have now developed what they are calling the Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT). The World Health Organization recognizes burnout as an occupational phenomenon. The key elements listed are exhaustion, emotional impairment, mental distance, and cognitive impairment. I tried out the BAT and it was relatively quick and easy to complete. Interestingly, I found that the questions themselves provide so much insight into what someone may be experiencing. Since we are all different, burnout may show up differently for each of us and this tool seems to capture the different aspects of the experience.
