A new study released this week revealed that between 2020 and 2023, deaths among unhoused people in Orange County increased by 50%, with fentanyl use playing a key role. This is a sobering reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for helping our unhoused neighbors. Real support means meeting people where they are and providing holistic care that helps them move toward stability and healing. #endhomelessnessoc #supportivecare

Thank you to our partners at Mercy House Living Centers for providing holistic support to community members like Beverly, empowering her to move forward with hope and a brighter future.
When Beverly first came to Mercy House, she was at risk of becoming homelessness. ? ? She was living with chronic health conditions and struggling to pay her utility bills due to a lack of income. Her limited mobility made everyday life even harder, and things took a turn for the worse when her power chair broke down. Shortly after, she suffered a painful fall when her walker’s faulty brakes gave out. ? ? Beverly’s case manager immediately stepped in to help. Together, they completed applications for assistance with her overdue utility bills, which brought her accounts up to date and relieved some of the financial burden. Additionally, through a support program, her case manager was able to secure a new walker for her. ? ? Now, Beverly is able to take walks around her apartment with her new walker, improving both her mobility and her confidence. With her bills caught up and her independence restored, Beverly is taking steps—literally and figuratively—toward a brighter future. ? . ? . ? . ? . ? . ? #mercyhouselc #disability #mobiltyaid #mobility #endhomelessness #community #successstory #supportprogram
