The Harvard Global Orthopaedics Collaborative (HGOC) is a group of Harvard-affiliated orthopaedic surgery faculty and trainees who share a passion for improving access to musculoskeletal health care globally. We engage in clinical research, surgical education, care delivery, and health systems development with our global partners in Cameroon, Colombia, Haiti, India, Malawi, and South Africa. We collaborate with the Harvard Program for Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC), the Orthopaedic and Arthritis Center for Outcomes Research (OrACORe), and the Harvard Medical School Orthopaedic Trauma Initiative (HMS OTI).

The Haitian Annual Assembly of Orthopaedic Traumatology (HAAOT) has a special place in my heart. I remember visiting #Haiti for the first time in 2012 with George Dyer and Partners In Health. The devastation from the 2010 earthquake and need for #orthopedic #trauma care was staggering, but the resilience and creativity of surgeons (back then, just residents) like Christina J. M. Soray & Pierre Marie Woolley was deeply inspiring. It is why I became an orthopaedic trauma surgeon myself. Now more than a decade later, we are proud to continue to partner to produce #HAAOT2025. We are developing a dynamic, virtual educational curriculum to support Haitian residents, and provide a platform for Haitian surgeons and trainees to present their cases. The conference is also open to all, and we look forward to the international dialogue. We hope this will benefit patients in #Haiti and other resource-constrained environments where gunshot & blast injuries, open fractures, infections, and bone defects are tragically very common. Most are orthopedic surgeons and nearly half are trainees. Regardless of who tunes in tomorrow, we record these sessions and post them publicly.
