Such an amazing group of young people! I was honored to learn and listen alongside of them as they visited legislators and advocated for important topics in healthcare.
Our Healthy Futures of Texas Youth Advocate Program took over the halls of the Capitol for 2025 Advocacy Day! These incredible young leaders met with legislative staffers to champion key health issues impacting students across Texas. They put in the work—researching, crafting advocacy papers, and preparing personal narratives—all to make sure youth voices are heard loud and clear. They spoke on critical topics, including: ?? Quality and Accessible Health Education ?? Menstrual Products in Schools ?? Youth Representation on SHACs We couldn’t be prouder of their passion, dedication, and commitment to creating change! Huge thank you to Representative Plesa and Senator West’s Legislative Director, Vince, for being champions of our SHAC bill and spending time with us yesterday.
