The State of Oregon has followed in the footsteps of the State of California, creating a centralized office charged increasing enforcement and oversight at the local level to ensure cities and counties meet their housing commitments to comply with state law. California's Housing Accountability Unit (HAU) was established in 2021. Oregon's new office opens July 1 and Governor Tina Kotek has appointed its two executives.
