  • In 2024 Mark Harris had the opportunity to hand out over $200,000 in Gene Haas Foundation checks. These checks went to support 36 middle schools, high schools, 2 & 4 year colleges, trades programs, and various robotics teams throughout New York and New Jersey. It is truly amazing the amount of support we are able to provide all these programs through the assistance of Haas Automation, Inc. and their Haas Technical Education Community. https://lnkd.in/eqNg55d Looking forward to seeing what we can do in 2025. Today, I had the opportunity to present the Morris County School of Technology with the Gene Haas Foundation grant. The Gene Haas Foundation supports educational programs that focus on machining, manufacturing, and STEM-related fields. These grants often provide financial resources to enhance technical education and help students gain skills that are highly valued in today's job market. This grant will open up a range of opportunities for the school to improve equipment, provide scholarships, and develop new programs that give students hands-on experience in high-demand areas like computer numerical control (CNC) machining, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. The students told me that by showcasing STEM through events like Makers-Fest and robot-building sessions at the local library, they are not only providing valuable learning experiences but also fostering an environment where students and community members from all demographics can explore and engage with technology. These initiatives promote the idea that STEM is accessible and important for everyone, regardless of background. Incorporating these values both within and beyond the school community strengthens the local ecosystem, encouraging collaboration and innovation. Events like Makers-Fest give students an opportunity to showcase their skills while learning from others, while robot-building sessions at the library are an excellent way to reach individuals who might not otherwise have access to such resources. By making these experiences available to a diverse group, they create a generation of problem-solvers ready to connect, compete, and work together to solve global challenges. The effort to inspire young minds in STEM fields can lead to impactful, long-lasting results. Whether students decide to pursue careers in engineering, computer science, or mathematics, they will carry with them the knowledge and skills that can help shape the future. The hope to unite for the greater global good is truly inspiring!

Team 20 from Shenendehowa Central Schools in Clifton Park, NY is thrilled to have received a generous grant from the Gene Haas Foundation. This support bolsters their robotics program, which uniquely includes two teams: a varsity team that competes in official events such as the NY Tech Valley Regional and Finger Lakes competitions and a rookie team that focuses on off-season events. This dual-team approach ensures greater student engagement by providing opportunities for participants of varying experience levels to develop and showcase their skills. The co-captains shared their excitement about using the grant funds to purchase new motors, and updated swerve modules, to enhance their robots. These upgrades will not only maintain competitiveness for both teams but also provide students with hands-on experience working with advanced components. The skills gained from these projects are directly applicable to careers in engineering, manufacturing, and technology, reflecting the team’s commitment to preparing students for the future

I was honored to present a grant check to Sussex County Community College. The following is their press release from the event. NEWTON (December 19, 2024)?–?Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is proud to announce the receipt of a $10,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation. This generous grant will provide scholarship opportunities for students in SCCC’s Machine Tool Technology program, helping to pave the way for their future success in the machining industry. Established in 1999, the Gene Haas Foundation is dedicated to fostering skills in CNC machining by funding scholarships for students in the field. Additionally, a portion of each grant can support special programming designed to advance the machining industry and workforce development. Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation, Inc.—America’s leading manufacturer of CNC machine tools—has been an advocate for closing the skills gap in manufacturing. While the industry continues to face a significant shortage of skilled workers, Haas Automation and its foundation remain committed to addressing this challenge through education and training. Mark Harris, Applications Engineer and Education Specialist from Allendale Machinery Systems Inc., presented the grant check to Dr. Jon Connolly, SCCC President, and Stan Kula, Executive Director of the SCCC Foundation. Allendale Machinery, a third-generation company, is recognized for delivering cutting-edge solutions and services to the manufacturing sector. “We are deeply honored to receive this grant,” said Dr. Connolly, President of SCCC. “The Gene Haas Foundation’s continued belief in our program highlights the importance of what we’re doing to prepare the next generation of skilled machinists. This grant ensures that financial barriers won’t prevent our students from pursuing their education.” “The Gene Haas Foundation has consistently demonstrated their commitment to our Machine Tool Technology students,” said Stan Kula, Executive Director of the SCCC Foundation. “Their ongoing support exemplifies the power of partnerships between industry leaders and educational institutions.”
