    NOTICE – New for 2024 under the Corporate Transparency Act- In 2021, Congress passed the Corporate Transparency Act (“CTA”). The CTA expanded anti-money laundering laws and created requirements for most companies doing business in the U.S. beginning in 2024. If you have a corporation or Limited Liability Company (or Partnership) you will now be required to file a report identifying beneficial ownership information (“BOI”) with the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (“FinCEN”) by the end of the year. This includes any old corporations or LLCs that were not dissolved before December 31, 2023. The penalties for not registering are large – failure to submit a required report may result in civil and criminal penalties. The penalties for willfully failing to file initial and updated reports are $500 for each day the report is late, up to $10,000, and imprisonment for up to two years. Don't forget! At the time termination of a tenancy is initiated on a covered property, certain notices and forms must be conveyed to the tenant no matter if the tenant has invoked VAWA or not.     Did you know that based on the VAWA reup of 2023, covered properties must provide the VAWA notices with any termination of tenancy notice such as a non-pay NTV?
