Tail Shaft Upgrade with Sealed Bearings Proud to share a recently completed project near Sorrento, LA, where we successfully swapped an outdated tail shaft design for a new, innovative version with sealed bearings! Here’s what we accomplished: -Removed the old tail shaft and redesigned the boom nose, including drilling new holes for precise installation of the new tail shaft. -Installed a cutting-edge sealed bearing system that offers superior durability and significantly outperforms traditional designs. As the Heyl & Patterson Equipment field service team closes out the Idaho project, another project is underway! John Blumen, our senior field service engineer, has mobilized to West Louisiana to advise on the pre-assembly phase of a CBU project. Working with our customer and trusted vendors on the equipment supply since June 2022, the project reached a milestone in December 2024 with Brian Steffan advising on the pre-assembly of a head shaft onto the boom structure. As we kickoff the new year, John Blumen will continue our advisory role on the boom structure and the CBU structure which consists of four (4) columns and (4) girders, standing 51' high and spanning 122' long. Thermite Welding for a CBU Trolley System Today, I had the opportunity to oversee a?thermite welding?process for a?CBU trolley system. We worked on a little bit over 89 feet of rail, completing four precise welds to ensure a seamless connection. This crucial process is vital for maintaining the integrity and smooth operation of the trolley system. After the welds were completed, the rails were carefully?cut to length?and?cleaned up, ensuring the highest quality for future use and to achieve our precise tolerance. It was impressive to see the level of precision and expertise involved in preparing these rails to support the efficient operation of the sites who we are lucky enough to assist. Originally commissioned in the early 1940s, this impressive machinery is now ready to continue its legacy for years to come. ?? Scope of Work: Structural Refurbishment: Frame and rivets fully restored. Mechanical Overhaul: Wheels, bearings, shafting, and gears rebuilt.
