    I’ve been a generalist my whole career. I’ve never liked putting myself in a box or titles or labels. I dabble in this and that and follow my curiosity and never let my “title” or “past experience” dictate what I can or can’t do. I have a mix of technical skills, design skills, product skills, business skills, research skills, and more. And I feel like all this foraging of cross-disciplinary skills is paying off in this age of generative AI. As someone who loves building products themselves I’m not fast enough or strong enough to do every role myself, but I’m knowledgeable enough in all these areas to guide AI to get what I need out of it. My AI friends include: ? ChatPRD as my product partner to help me think through product requirements ? Replit to build prototypes and ship code (I haven’t gotten into Cursor or Windsurf or v0 yet but want to try them) ? Research Mate, a prototype/codename of the AI research assistant I’m building (on Replit) (give it a spin if you want and tell me what you think: https://lnkd.in/gTC4cCBv ), is my expert user researcher that helps me write research plans and interview scripts ? Marvin to help me analyze qualitative data from research calls ??Figma is still my primary UI/UX design tool and is just starting to add generative AI tools, but TBH they haven’t helped me much yet and this skillset/workflow has been impacted the least by AI so far (for me personally. Maybe because I can still do this work faster and better than AI? For now?) So I’m excited to see where these tools go and how much more I’ll be able to get done on my own. There’s never been a better time to be a generalist.

    “Can AI handle qualitative research on autopilot?” For years, this is the question that Chirag Narula and I have been trying to answer. Why? Because if AI could do this, it would transform the way researchers work. Here’s why LLMs have struggled with qualitative research up to this point: LLMs like ChatGPT have a limit on how much information they can process at once. Their token windows max out at a few thousand words. Once you go beyond that, they start to hallucinate and generate unreliable insights. So while GenAI is really, really good at desk research, most tools can’t handle the enormous context of user interviews, surveys, etc. This required a different approach to AI for research – which led us to develop Marvin’s new Deep Research tool. Marvin’s Deep Research is unlike any other user research tool on the market because it was developed *specifically* for qualitative researchers. → Uses an agentic approach to overcome the limitations of LLM tokens → Lets users choose from 7 pre-configured prompts of the most common types of analyses? → Processes your own data to find key themes, relevant quotes, and other insights → Delivers a detailed, AI-generated report with supporting evidence and citations Here’s an example of a report generated by Marvin's Deep Research, so you can see how powerful it is: https://lnkd.in/g4qS7HjS
