#WednesdayWomen 3 things about women in the workforce and why you are likely leaving money on the table. #1 There has been a broad pushback on DEI initiatives in recent months. Ok. #2 We still have a long way to go before women are valued at par in the workplace at every level of an organization (see attached report). Really? #3 There are now decades of scientific data that show inclusion of women yields better financial outcomes for a business. For instance, organizations with at least 30% women in leadership roles are 12x more likely to be in the top 20% for financial performance (Ready-now Leaders Report). This is just one of a plethora of such conclusions from reputable research organizations like Pew, HBR, etc. It's not about gender or diversity, it's about getting the best outcomes. This. Are you leveraging female leadership superpowers or are you failing to give opportunities to this grossly underutilized, but demonstrably powerful force in our societies that is #women?

#AITuesday You've no doubt heard about the massive power required by today's LLMs and the questions about #AI #sustainability. It is early in this revolution. We have to push the limits to know what is possible. However, many applications will require a more practical approach to achieve a return on investment (ROI) at scale with an efficient data architecture, AI-first system design, and less consumptive models. For example, Ai2 (Paul Allen's Institute for AI in #Seattle) has demonstrated impressive performance success with its recently announced #Molmo family of models. Meta is also innovating with its #Llama 3.2 series targeting edge devices. Both are much smaller than the large LLMs, multimodal and open, although to different degrees. Just enough #AI with just the right #data to solve the problem is the future.

The benefits of brain multitasking with music is something widely intuitively known, but rarely adressed through scientific means. Most research seems focused on the inability to have your brain do multiple tasks simultaneously and the detrimental effects of multitasking. Microsoft and LinkedIn recently released their 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report which indicated that the majority of knowledge workers use AI and want to use AI to do their jobs better. Every company looking to adopt AI into some part of their business should first understand how it's already being used in the company. Employees are always knowledgeable of what is wrong and usually have excellent ideas of how to improve things, internally and externally. While many AI applications require more complex data architectures and integrations, the easily accessible uses by employees are highly relevant to understanding the opportunities, competition and risks AI has already brought.
