Deadly collisions involving camera-only ADAS and autonomous vehicles are on the rise, including a recent event involving a deer that was hit at a high speed without any reaction from the autonomous function-enabled vehicle. In contrast, lidar-equipped vehicles continue to meet high safety requirements, even in complex scenarios including night driving, rain and fog, and they consistently out-perform camera-only vehicles.
