#NSBE2025 | Co-President of UTSA herScript | MLT CP Fellow '25 | Computer Engineering Student at The University of Texas at San Antonio

NSBE FRC + AFROTECH = An incredible November! Reflecting on November, I can confidently say it was truly special. I continue to feel the positive effects of the inspiration and connections I forged at those two incredible conferences. Those weeks were filled with learning, and I'm still processing it all. One of my key takeaways and a constant reminder for myself, especially as an engineering student is to give myself grace. It's so easy to become overwhelmed by the pressure to balance everything. Academics, extracurriculars, and attending conferences can be a lot, and it's perfectly fine if things don't always unfold as planned. I'm immensely grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many inspiring individuals at both events. The workshops were genuinely beneficial. I particularly enjoyed the HP leadership panel at FRC and the "Investing 101: Building Wealth in the Community" session. I'm incredibly proud of my UTSA NSBE chapter for being named the Texas Zone Most Outstanding Chapter of the Year! I feel honored to be part of such an amazing and dedicated group. A huge thank you to Google's Tech Equity Collective (TEC) for making my AfroTech experience possible. It was truly invaluable. A big shoutout to herScript: Black Women in Tech Initiative for the fantastic events with Intuit and UnitedHealth Group. herScript's commitment to empowering women in technology shone through in the events they hosted during AfroTech. These exclusive gatherings offered our members invaluable opportunities to network, learn, and grow, further establishing herScript's role as a leader in promoting inclusivity and leadership within the tech industry. The discussions there were incredibly insightful. I'm leaving feeling energized and ready to embrace what's next, and I’m deeply thankful for everyone I connected with during my time at NSBE FRC and AfroTech. I am so appreciative of the network I've been able to build from these two events alone. #NSBE #AfroTech #GoogleTEC #Engineering #StudentEngineer #UTSA #Leadership #Networking #TechEquity

Last week, herScript had the amazing opportunity of partnering with UNT NABA , BHPO, and NBLSA to host an engaging career panel for UNT students. Our panel featured exceptional professionals from diverse industries, including Law, Technology, Accounting, and Health-related fields. The open Q&A segment allowed students to engage directly with the speakers, prompting them to ask thoughtful questions and share their heartfelt stories. This career panel was an eye-opening experience, providing students with practical advice on navigating the early stages of their careers and emphasizing the importance of perservance in pursuing one’s goals. Thank you to our panelists, Dr. Beverly Caro Duréus, Dietra Miles, Zainab Ahmed, and Kayla Trunnell, for sharing their inspiring career journeys and leading an insightful discussion that touched on the importance of professionalism, developing valuable skill sets, and breaking barriers in the workplace. We would also like to give a special shoutout to all the student organizations who collaborated with herScript to host this memorable event. #herScript #UNT #WomeninTech #CareerPanel

Early Careers- DEI Strategist-Consultant/Relationship Manager/ Recruiter

Last week, during the AFROTECH Conference, the Early Careers DEI team Tangela Lucas, Anna Muhovich and I had the privilege of hosting a networking event in partnership with herScript: Black Women in Tech Initiative, a student-founded organization dedicated to empowering women of color pursuing careers in technology. We were absolutely blown away by the talent, innovation, and passion these young women brought to the conversation. Their determination and creativity are paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future in tech. It’s moments like these that remind us why fostering connections and creating opportunities for underrepresented talent is so important. We are grateful for the chance to support such an incredible group of future tech leaders. Here’s to continuing the work of building a tech industry where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to help set up and network with these amazing students. Phibian S., Winnie Rindelaub, MHRM, PHR.
