关于我们
Our Mission Herron Classical Schools is a community of scholars that advances timeless ideas and content, builds a culture of respect and trust, and engages in an urban environment in order to prepare students to be world-class citizens. Our Vision Herron Classical Schools is founded on the belief that a classical, liberal arts education, where students are steeped in great historical thought and invention, is the best preparation for a future life of leadership and service. Herron-Riverside High School was founded in 2017 as the second campus of Herron High School (HHS), one of the nation’s highest-performing public high schools. Herron-Riverside High School is a true replication of the award-winning model established at Herron High School. Riverside was created in response to the overwhelming demand for enrollment slots at HHS and the need for high-quality high school options within Indianapolis’ urban core. Riverside holds a charter from the City of Indianapolis Mayor’s Office of Education Innovation, which was awarded by a unanimous vote of the Indianapolis Charter School Board in 2015.

Herron-Riverside seniors Luis Gama and Maria Ayala-Perez did a great job sharing their perspectives on the importance of mental health and representing HRHS in honor of National Suicide Prevention Month. La Grande and Telemundo, two local radio stations, teamed up to highlight the thoughts of teens on the subject of mental health in the hispanic community and selected our scholars to lend a student-voice to this effort!

???? The adventure of a lifetime! Our high schoolers immersed themselves in South Africa's vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and diverse wildlife. ???? While this country's spotted and striped inhabitants are beautiful, it's the social, political, and cultural lessons of South Africa that our scholars will carry with them forever.

Please join us in celebrating and welcoming Ms. Brela Akers to the Herron-Riverside High School family! As a college preparatory, classical liberal arts and sciences high school, our mission is to prepare students to be well-rounded citizens for the 21st century. Important to that mission is ensuring students have access to high-quality tools to prepare them for college and beyond. This year, we are excited to announce the launch of a robust College and Careers coaching program in partnership with Christel House International, an education non-profit. Through this partnership, students will have access to our very own college and career coach - Ms. Akers! Ms. Akers joins the Herron-Riverside family with years of experience supporting scholars in the city to achieve their goals in college and beyond. When reflecting about the new role, she shares, "I'm very excited to work alongside students and families to understand their future." As a part of her role, Ms. Akers will be responsible for connecting students to different college and career pathways. This ranges from traditional college visits to 21st century industry tours and job shadowing opportunities. What's more, students will layer in important life skills through college and career modules during Advisory. A sample of these modules include: ? Financial literacy ? Transitions to post-secondary education ? Mentorships ? Confidence building ? Employability soft / hard skills And perhaps the best part of this partnership is that Ms. Akers and her team of college and career colleagues will stay in touch and lead programming with our students even after they graduate to help navigate life after high school. Herron-Riverside alumni will continue to be supported by this unique coaching program!
