Ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in federal custody demands a comprehensive approach that prioritizes staff wellness and institutional culture. The recent DOJ report on reducing suicide risk in federal custody highlights critical strategies to address this pressing issue. https://lnkd.in/dk5V9dEx A key takeaway: fostering a culture of safety and wellness among staff is paramount. By supporting employee mental health, enhancing training, and promoting adherence to best practices, institutions can create an environment that reduces risk not only for those in custody but also for the professionals who work tirelessly to maintain security and care. Change begins with leadership and extends across every level of the system. Let’s continue the conversation on how we can advance a safer, healthier culture within correctional settings. #Corrections #MentalHealth #StaffWellness #SuicidePrevention #InstitutionalCulture #activebystandership
