?????????????? ???? ???????????????????? ?????????????????? ???????? ?????????? ???????????????????? ?????????????? The Herndon Police Department proudly congratulates Lieutenant Jeff Lange on his graduation from the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police & Foundation, Inc.'s Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS). Lt. Lange has been with the department for 17 years and has served as a detective and field training officer. He is currently oversees the Criminal Investigations Section, is HPD's polygraph examiner, and serves as the Vice President of Greater Herndon FOP Lodge 64. PELS is an intensive three-week leadership education program conducted in cooperation with the University of Richmond. This program is designed for individuals who currently serve in executive level positions within their organizations. The objective of this program is to acquaint participants with best practices in leadership, challenge them to reflect upon their own leadership competency, and examine ways of achieving both personal and professional growth. "I am grateful for the opportunity to attend PELS and gain insight from law enforcement leadership throughout the Commonwealth," Lange said. We value the opportunity to send our commanders to this executive law enforcement training that builds on their professional growth and development. Congratulations, Lt. Lange!

Chief DeBoard had the honor of being recognized at VOICE Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement’s Youth Behavioral Health Assembly on Sunday, as they discussed the progress VOICE has made and the issues they are still facing in addressing behavior health resources needed. She was recognized for her legislative efforts through Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police & Foundation, Inc. that assisted with the passage of bills that will ensure funding for behavioral health resources for the youth in our communities. Pastor Becca Messman of Burke Presbyterian Church, formerly of Herndon’s Trinity Presbyterian Church, said, “Chief DeBoard has been instrumental in highlighting behavioral health on the state level. She was an early collaborator with VOICE in our statewide organizing. Safe to say without her leadership among the VACP several years ago, we would not be where we are today with increased focus and funding to address this crisis." VOICE is a nonpartisan organization of over 40 faith communities that organize together to build power to improve the lives of our families, communities, regions, and nation. https://voice-va.org/

???????????????? ?????? ?????????????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????????? ?????? The suicide statistics are sobering for our law enforcement profession. At HPD we understand the significance of that and take a proactive approach to mental health. We don’t accept that emotional struggle is a permanent part of the job. At our core is a commitment to provide clinical resources to officers and dispatchers whenever they are needed, as well as building an internal culture of care and support for each other. To serve our communities effectively, we must always ensure we are taking care of ourselves. -?????????? ???????????? ?????????????? Today we remember and honor law enforcement first responders who have died by suicide. ???? ?????? ?????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????? ???? ??????????????, ???????? ???? ???????? ?????? ???? ???????? ??-??????-??????-????????.

It’s always a pleasure when our units can train with our partner agencies. Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority PD hosted HPD, Virginia State Police, and Leesburg Police Department for a morning of motors training. Working together makes us all better! Bottom: Sgt. Last night, Chief Maggie DeBoard attended the showing of ??????????-??-??, a documentary by Director Conrad Weaver on the struggles of first responders with PTSD. Following the film she had the honor of sitting on a panel with these other remarkable people, moderated by Leesburg PD Chief Thea P., to discuss what we are doing in the region, where our greatest gaps exist, and where we need to go to make a difference. Chief DeBoard said, "For me, it is always educational as well as a harsh reminder to see and hear the struggles that are actively going on, issues that could be significantly mitigated with the proper resources, support and intentional leadership." Thank you to Chief Pirnat and the Leesburg Police Department for hosting this important event and bringing our professional struggles from the darkness out into the light. ???????? ?????????????????? ?????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???? ????????????.

Herndon PD is proud to be a partner agency of the Northern Virginia Regional Intelligence Center (NVRIC). Thank you for all that you do to keep our region safe and congratulations on this great honor!
As a partner agency to and consumer of intelligence products from the Northern Virginia Regional Intelligence Center (NVRIC), we are incredibly proud of their recognition as the 2024 Fusion Center of the Year by the National Fusion Center Association. Director Amy Lay Lay has provided excellent leadership and assistance to our agency and other regional partners for many years, through their agency liaison program, which we participate in. Never satisfied with how they serve our first responder community, she stopped by recently to solicit feedback on how the NVRIC can better serve our agency moving forward and shared their recent recognition with us. #NVRIC #partnerships #collaboration #sharingintelligence
