Congratulations from the Hermanus Business Chamber to the only municipal team in South Africa where the Mayor and Municipal Manager both have doctoral degrees. Dr. Dean O'Neill received his PHD on 17 April at UWC . His thesis focussed on whether the future existence of municipalities would be determined by their ability to remain financially sustainable in an increasingly constrained economic and politically volatile environment in their quest to provide and maintain quality and affordable services to all the residents within their jurisdiction. We are privileged to live in the Overstrand Municipal area which has had a clean financial audit for 11 years in a row. During the previous financial year only 15% of municipalities in SA received clean audits - more than half of them in the Western Cape.
