This year we celebrate 250 years of America's Warfighting Navy. Our US Navy has deterred aggression, defended our national security interests, and preserved our way of life. We continue to preserve the peace, respond in crisis, and be ready to win decisively in war, if called. #AmericasNavy250 https://lnkd.in/gKb98J4E

My unsolicited and unassisted takeaways, shout outs, and hot takes from yesterday's summit. Please correct, if I missed the mark. Key Takeaways: - Despite the summit's title, audit continues to drive the conversation - Audit will not be achieved by FM alone, we need PEOs, Commanders, Manpower, Logistics, Supply, Maintenance, IT and Operations support to achieve success - Data, performance metrics, data, performance metrics, and oh yeah ... data and performance metrics. Despite improvements, Advana, it's not there yet! The data calls will continue until morale improves ?? Shout Outs / Hot Takes: 1. Debra Del Mar, Tina Pierce, Natasha Anderson, CPA, CGFM, Melissa Sikora, and Shawn Lennon for recognizing that upskilling and empowering the FM workforce is as important to audit as ERP modernization and feeder system rationalization. 2. Lara Sayer and Tom Harker providing an inside look at Program and Budget reform recommendations, those that are getting traction (increase to Below Threshold Reprogramming limit from $10M to $15M) and those not. Key takeaway, congress is hesitant to give DoD more flexibility but they are listening. 3. DLA's Shawn Lennon recount of teaming with DON Financial Management & Comptroller's Ashley Elizabeth Evans in examining technologies and use cases leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to accelerate progress towards a clean audit. Though not signed and if included, NDAA 2025 (Section 1007) directs Departments and Agencies to explore AI and ML's ability to accelerate audit success. 4. Efforts by DFAS's Melissa Sikora leveraging an employee informed data analytics tool (ALERT) to identify improper payments resulting from potential fraud, waste, and abuse. 5. Thomas Simoes for sharing his experience with the current and past Administration transitions. Tom provided valuable insights ranging from the timing of a signed budget, to managing the workforce's anxiety related to potential return to work initiatives. 6. Shout out to Society of Defense Financial Management (SDFM) for continuing to champion the DoD's FM workforce needs and hosting another incredible event. Also, a big thank to Rich Brady and the SDFM staff (especially registration??, photographer, and Daniel Litow). 7. Sorry Greg Little, a future absent MS Excel and Power Point is not possible until we prioritize (and fund) effective change management and adult learning-based training programs, i.e. training when we need it, in our environments, our processes, in our language, and embedded within the production environment. COTS ERP = ??, COTS Training =??, Train the Trainer = ??
