Henry Street Settlement was proud to partner with New York University's Institute of Human Development and Social Change to organize "Our Stories, Our Solutions: A Summit on Transformative Solutions for Economic Equity." The summit brought together parents, community leaders, advocates, researchers, and practitioners from across the country to explore ways to improve the lives of children and families in the U.S. Henry Street spoke on how we embody our founder Lillian Wald’s ethos of “listen, reflect, act” to create innovative solutions within our Lower East Side community. Lilah Mejia, LES community champion and member of the Settlement's Community Advisory Board, joined Jeremy Reiss and Erica Chung to present on the Mobile Market food program, which employed young adults in the neighborhood to deliver healthy food to hundreds neighbors facing food insecurity at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re grateful to be a part of this network that's so committed to economic equity for all! #Equity #Conference #NYU

What began as a youth work program during the height of the pandemic has grown into something extraordinary! The Community Response Team (CRT) is now a vital outreach resource for Henry Street—and a career launching pad for its alumni. On November 15, CRT alumni from past cohorts reunited to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate their growth. Since their time at Henry Street, they’ve achieved remarkable milestones like pursuing or graduating from higher education in fields like school counseling and nursing; landing careers in health communications, EMT work, and comedy content creation; and even joining the Settlement’s team in a new capacity. For the current CRT interns, it was an inspiring event and peek into what’s ahead in their own journeys. We are so proud of and grateful for these young people and the impact they continue to make in their communities and beyond! #FutureLeaders #YouthDevelopment #PositiveChange
