#ThrowBackThursday This Thursday we're throwing it back to our 2023 Month of Design #Workshop. Detroit area educators, designers, community leaders and youth came together to share their voices and perspectives, as we explored how we can work together to envision possible futures in which all students have access to an excellent learning experience in schools. Small wins can lead to big success! A recent study found that when students tackled a mix of challenging and easier problems, they were twice as likely to stay motivated and even enjoy the process. At HFLI, we believe in the power teachers have to shape their students' confidence and learning experiences. As warm demanders, educators can use this simple yet meaningful strategy—starting or ending tough lessons with moments of success—to positively impact student confidence without lowering the bar. ??? An Allies for Radical Collaboration Fellow spoke of their personal experience in the HFLI program and how it has helped them develop as a warm demander: "After the first few sessions with HFLI, I stopped asking students to correct their uniform, take off hoodies, etc. because I was able to recognize that they were ways for students to feel comfortable/safe in the classroom setting. I then started focusing on other ways to help students feel more safe/comfortable in my classroom."
