Leadership Henry Class 1 learned about the educational offerings at our three high schools, Wallace Community College, and Kingdom College during their Education session earlier this week. Headland High School, Abbeville High School AL, and Abbeville Christian Academy gave the group school tours and highlighted some their programs like robotics, construction science, cosmetology and more. Wallace showcased their health sciences, welding, and industrial maintenance programs. Kingdom College outlined their various programs and activities.

Henry County schools and businesses participated in the Southeast Worlds of Works at the National Peanut Festival fairgrounds last Thursday. The day provided 10th graders from 11 counties hands-on exposure to careers across the region

Congratulations to Matt Parker who also serves on our HCEDA Board of Directors! Matt has been a valuable partner with Henry County for many years, working on all our major projects and helping reestablish our organization. He works tirelessly for economic growth in our entire region and is so deserving of this prestigious award!

The City of Abbeville celebrated the grand opening of its Municipal Airport expansion last Friday. State and local dignitaries in attendance included Governor Kay Ivey, former Senator Richard Shelby, Senator Katie Boyd Britt, Senator Tommy Tuberville, Henry County businessman Jimmy Rane, Mayor Jimmy Money, and many more. The expansion extended the runway to more than 5,000 feet to accommodate larger aircraft.
