On a mission to ensure all children have a safe, stable homes
关于我们
Henrico CASA promotes safe, healthy homes for every child in Henrico County, especially those vulnerable from abuse and neglect. #ChangeaChildsStory We train and supervise volunteers who help our county's most vulnerable children thrive in safe, loving homes. These volunteers are called Court Appointed Special Advocates, aka CASAs, because they are appointed by judges serving in the Henrico County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court to speak up for the best interests of children experiencing possible abuse and/or neglect. CASA volunteers build a relationship with the child, gather information, and collaborate with professionals in order to make a recommendation to the court. As our judges often note, these recommendations are vital to making the best decisions possible on behalf of vulnerable children. CASA volunteers provide "unbiased reporting of the circumstances to assist the court with making a better informed decision." - Judge, Henrico Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court

Last week, CASA's leaders, Advocates, and friends participated in a powerful poverty simulation. This immersive experience allowed participants to step into the shoes of individuals who were navigating financial instability, food insecurity, and limited access to a number of critical resources. This experience deepened our understanding of the children we serve who are facing the complex challenges associated with poverty and sparked meaningful, productive conversations about the importance of our work. Thank you to all who participated!
