The Association of British Credit Unions Limited (ABCUL) Learning Journey is a unique initiative that involves taking credit union professionals to our partner credit unions in the United Kingdom for a comprehensive and immersive experience. During this journey, participants have the opportunity to share with credit unions in Great Britain and learn from them as well! This morning, Samantha A.M. Beeler, along with Peach State Federal Credit Union, Georgia United Credit Union, Orlando Credit Union, Hello Credit Union, Fort McClellan Credit Union, Henrico FCU, Kinetic Credit Union, and Georgia's Own Credit Union had the opportunity to visit London Mutual Credit Union. We are proud to announce that the League of Credit Unions and Affiliates has awarded us four honors for our efforts in financial education and community service. For 2024, we received first place for the Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award, second place for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award, second place for the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award, and third place for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award. We shared the credit union message of local service with Virginia Senator Lamont Bagby during the Virginia 2025 Regular Legislative Session. We informed our Senator of the credit union's 2024 investment in the Financial Empowerment Centers located within the HCPS Adult Education Center at Regency and the Oak Avenue Complex. Chris Williams, the Chief Executive Officer, was awarded the prestigious Eugene H. Farley Award at the Virginia Credit Union League annual meeting. He has led Henrico Federal Credit Union since February 2001. Chris is a mentor who believes in the credit union movement and a beacon to his fellow credit union leaders. One Credit Union CEO stated, “Chris has consistently been a champion for small credit unions.?He is always willing to share his wisdom with me, ultimately molding me into a stronger leader.” Recently, he has been a champion for financial education focused on youth, and in 2023, he partnered with Henrico County Schools Adult Education to launch Financial Empowerment Centers in western and eastern Henrico County. The goal is to continue the credit union legacy of financial literacy while supporting low to moderate-income households with financial education and services tailored to them.?
